Huge thank you to Janet and Eric for an excellent trip to Beijing. Booking our trip with Janet was informative of all the available itineraries and destinations to visit and she made it easy to book our chosen one. Janet kept in touch even on our birthdays, most appreciated. We were met at the airport by Eric who was very friendly and knowledgable about Beijing and very happy to answer questions we had.The days were well planned and included several attractions all in one day. For example in one day we visited Tian'an,en square, the Forbidden city and the temple of heaven. Transport from place to place was seamless and very comfortable. Overall our experience in Beijing was extremely interesting and stress free. We will definitely highly recommend Top China Travel to friends who want a great experience in Beijing.

For most of us, travel to China is either a distant dream or a once in a lifetime trip. Unfortunately due to language and cultural barriers/difficulties, planning and executing such a trip is extremely difficult at best. And for those of us who do not care for group travel, but rather the freedom and flexibility of fully independent travel, travel to China represents a difficult goal. After a lot of research I thought I had a basic idea at least of where I might want to go, but since I don’t speak Mandarin or read Chinese script/hanzi, traveling independently seemed impossible – and I was traveling solo. And at 71, I’m through with hassles and dealing with problems while traveling. Not only is life too short for that, but the time you have in a country is limited and how much time do you really want to waste dealing with issues vs seeing what you came to see or experience? I had previous experience dealing with independent travel agencies in Argentina and Chile, but didn’t expect that service to be available in China for some reason. But after a bit of additional research I discovered Top China Travel (TCT) and soon after my first contact with my travel consultant Rebecca Wei, things quickly fell into place. Turns out selecting TCT, was one of the best decisions I’ve made in quite a while. I began with a base three week Highlights of China itinerary, and modified it to suit my interests and requirements, including class of hotel, sights, and additional locations. Because with TCT, there is no limit to how much you customize, nor are there additional service fees for doing so. I ended up with a 25 day package to 11 different locations, and this has to be the highlights from what I discovered and guides repeatedly told me. I will tell you this is a LOT for one trip, but based on my age, it is unlikely I will go back again, so wanted to see as much as possible this trip. My itinerary included Shanghai, Huangshan, Yellow Mountains, Hangzhou, Guilin, Changdu, Xi’an, Yangtze River Cruise, Zhangjiajie and Beijing. I specified 5 Star hotels and believe me they were that – some of the nicest hotels I’ve ever experienced anywhere in the world including in the USA. But you can tailor that to your budget and requirements from three-star up. I’ve never experienced a trip so organized and well executed. It was totally flawless and hassle free. There was never a single issue or mistake. From the time I landed in Shanghai, I was met by an English speaking guide and driver (drivers Chinese speaking only), and taken to my hotel and hand held thru checking into the hotel, since everything of course was pre-paid thru TCT. Then the next morning a fully guided tour of Shanghai with evening free to myself. Additional evening activities are recommended at each location that TCT will arrange and book for you at an additional cost. I attended three while in China. Then when ready to leave Shanghai for Huangshan and the Yellow Mountains (which were stunningly beautiful and unique), I was taken to the train station and accompanied by the guide thru the check-in process and then I was off to Huangshan, where upon arrival I was met again and taken to the hotel with guided tours the following days. And this repeated FLAWLESSLY throughout the trip at each location. And the hand offs were quite impressive. At each location I had a new driver and guide, and they had my full itinerary of what I had done to that point and of course what I was scheduled to do and more impressively, had received a call from the previous guide advising them I was on my way. If this isn’t 5-star service, I don’t know what is. Now while this might all seem a bit too organized, I can assure it was not. There was flexibility and as a day progressed, as the guide got to know me better and felt I might enjoy more scenery vs a tea ceremony, for example, we could change that on the fly and at times did just that – within reason of course. And evenings were free. And another bonus was the experiences with the guides. Not only were they extremely knowledgeable and the drivers safe and reliable, but I learned more about life in China than I could ever have imagined doing since I developed personal relationships with the guides and the conversations were interactive and spontaneous and I had so much time with them each day. There is no way I could have accomplished or experienced this within a tour group. Words can’t express my thanks to Top China Travel and the entire ground operations including guides and drivers for making my China trip one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever taken. And perhaps in the next couple years I can return and see a few things I missed on this trip, or return to a special place and relax a bit more. I won’t say it would have been impossible to have planned and executed this trip without help, but I can’t imagine having done so without having the knowledge and relationships with the ground operations and so many other things. And I’ve planned and executed dozens of international trips with no assistance, but to places far easier than China or Japan. China is a fascinating and incredibly beautiful country, with scenery and culture unlike anyplace I’ve visited. Chinese people are welcoming and I felt safe everywhere I went. I highly recommend China as a travel destination and if you are looking for something similar to what I’ve experienced, I highly recommend Top China Travel. You won’t be sorry you selected them.

Recently, we joint a group tour organized by TCT. We had a excellent experience for the whole tour including the booking process. Here are some highlights. Tour booking I found TCT from the web with very positive reviews. I decided to book my China tour with them. Now, I am glad that I made right choice. TCT assigned a very experienced tour consultant, Raylene He, to work with me. Due to various reasons, we changed our tour plan a few times including changing starting date, hotels, the tour routes etc. Raylene was very patient to work with me to make sure every planned details were met our needs. She was also very responsive in answer my queries. Our family would like to give her a big THANKS. Hotels Best Location: Beijing, Guilin Very convenient. This allowed us to do more sightseeing by walking in the evening. Hotel room: the best hotel rooms were in Xi’an. They were a very spacious full suites. It was a welcome surprise. Breakfast: most of us like Beijing better. I personally like both Beijing and Xi’an. This is because of the preference of the types of food. Tour guide Tour guide in Beijing stayed with us one day longer so we got to know her better. We felt that she provided very good service. Tour guide in Shanghai was more knowledgeable. He provided different perspectives to various topics. His explanation/opinion made the tour more interesting. In general, all tour guides were very professional and made their best effort to make the tour run smoothly. Because traffic jams are common in China, they constantly discussed routes with drivers to pick the best route and drop off locations. Drivers: Drivers were very cooperative. We had an emergency in Guilin. One of us needed to go to washroom right away. Since it was rush hour and the traffic was very heavy, the bus could not stop anywhere, the Guide and the Driver found a hospital with washroom on the way and dropped us off. We wee appreciate it very much. We also noticed that the drivers were very conscious in helping TCT to save money. For example selecting a parking location in a free of charge location instead of a paid parking lot. Flexible route arrangement We joined a group tour. This group tour went to Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Guilin and Hong Kong as advertised. Our tour group started with four families. After the tour in Xi’an, One family left the group for Guilin and Yangtze River cruise. In Shanghai, the rest of us merged into another group. After Shanghai, a few families in the merged group left the group tour.. We left the group after Guilin. In general, the cost of group tour is lower. TCT allowed customer to pick and choice as you wish to fit customer’s needs. They also recommended group tour where possible to help customer to lower the cost, although this made their tour management a lot more complicated. I would like to say that TCT is an excellent tour operator compare with others. All the little efforts that employees made contributed to TCT’s success. It seems to us that TCT is a well run company. We wish TCT continued success in the future.

From the 1st point of contact till the end Joyce was great and helped plan a perfect trip which I was for a short time in Beijing. I was traveling alone and was recommended to join a small group of fellow travelers which was perfect. Great tour guide with a clean bus. Pick up on time and overall a great experience.

My daughter and I took a private tour with Top China Travel to Shanghai, Guilin, Chengdu, Xian and Beijing. I really enjoyed the private tour as opposed to a bus tour, because we were able to discuss some details with our tour guides and make slight changes to the itinerary. For example, we loved the Panda Reserve in Chengdu, so instead of leaving early to have lunch elsewhere, we were able to eat sandwiches there and spend more time with the pandas. Also, while visiting Tiananmen Square I commented to our guide that it would be interesting to go inside Chairman Mao's Mausoleum someday and see his preserved body. The guide noticed that the line wasn't long and asked if we'd like to go now. We said 'yes', and he took us in even though it wasn't on the itinerary. We had to pay a small fee to check our bags since no bags are allowed inside, but we loved our guide's flexibility. Bus tours aren't as flexible. Two of our favorite days were the Chengdu Panda Reserve and hiking the Wohushan Great Wall. I must mention that hiking the Wohushan Great Wall was very difficult and took every ounce of energy we had; it isn't for everyone. But if you are in good shape and love challenging hikes, you may really enjoy this hike. (Other visitors should visit another section of the Great Wall.) Another favorite day happened in Shanghai. It was a very personal day. My daughter was adopted from Shanghai, so we asked Janet at Top China Travel to help us visit her orphanage. They were able to arrange this visit. It meant a lot to us. The two places where I wish we had spent more time was in Guilin and the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Guilin is a lovely town with five lakes that are connected and surrounded by a park that stretches across the small city. There is also a lovely shopping area in town. It would have been nice to have another two - four hours to simply walk and relax in Guilin. It can get hot there, so this extra time might not be fun if its mid-day during the summer months. The Temple of Heaven was nice, but what I really loved was the park surrounding it. The Chinese gather there to exercise, practice martial arts, sing, dance, play games and much, much more. I could have easily spent 2 hours simply relaxing in the park watching people. All of the hotels were nice and clean. All of the breakfast meals at the hotels were wonderful. All of our guides were eager to please, although we had trouble understanding a couple of them. There English was always good, but sometimes the pronunciation needed improvement. Our favorite guides were Cherry in Guilin and Jimmy in Beijing. We loved our tour agent, Janet. She was helpful from the beginning of the planning process all the way through the end of our trip. If I return to China, I will use Top China Travel again.

I recently visited China with my son and his friend. Janet Chan’s patience with us as we kept changing our minds on where to go and what to do was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to China. Starting in Chengdu we were met at the airport by Summer and the driver. They were on time and Summer was excellent with explanations and answered all our questions. She did not rush us and we had the time to see and take all the pictures we wanted. On To Xi’an . We were met at the airport by Lili and the driver. She was knowledgeable and very interesting. While visiting the Terracotta Soldiers she made sure that we had the best views and even helped us with finding the best prices for our souvenirs. She suggested we visit the wall and while there we saw the night time show. We also visited the People’s park ( a suggestion from Lili) and were amazed at all the activities there. We had decided to visit Pingyao on our own and really enjoyed walking around the city and even visited the underground castle. As we did not book any tours for this town our kind host at the hostel drove us to the castle and back. While there I lost my train ticket. We contacted Janet, and her agent, the driver and the train station were extremely helpful in helping me. When we arrived in Beijing the driver went out of his way to help me get the refund for my ticket and I will be forever grateful. We had only one issue through no fault of Top China Travel, with the guide the day we went to the Forbidden City, Summer Palace and The Temple of Heaven. We were picked up on time, we were rushed through the Forbidden City with little explanation. There was no time to visit or take pictures. We did have more time in the afternoon for the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace but I would have like more information about all three. Our last day was memorable . The Great Wall that Janet suggested was spectacular and I managed to walk to the tenth post. We had more than enough time to enjoy this experience. A short tour of Water Town after an excellent lunch was also included. Even though it took longer to reach our destination the spectacular views were so worth the bus ride and on the way we got to see the country side. We found the people of China most helpful, friendly and kind and it is a trip I will remember forever. I thank you, Janet for your help in making this amazing trip of a lifetime possible and being there when we needed help. Needless to say I would not hesitate to recommend Top China Travel to anyone. They are very professional and you get the feeling that they personally care that you have a great China experience. Janine

I can't recommend this company enough!! I started talking to Yocky via the chat system on their website, as we wanted to do a 2.5 week trip around China. Our itinerary was: Shenzhen-Beijing-Xian-Kunming-Dongchuan-Chengdu-Guilin-Sanya Here's how things went: 1) She was instant in her replies and responded to subsequent emails within the hour (and trust me, I sent A LOT of emails). She was always so thorough and efficient. 2) She made us a tailor made trip that covered everything we wanted, including some slightly more off the beaten track attractions. 3) She helped us keep to our budget and suggested reasonable things we could cut out when things were too expensive (not something many companies would do as they are trying to make a quick buck). 4) She listened to all of our requests for things such as early morning flights, vegetarian food, and readjusting itineraries. 5) All our drivers and guides were EXCELLENT; they were prompt, kind, spoke excellent English and had a wealth of knowledge about all the sites we saw. All the cars on our private tours were nice and comfortable and had water. 6) Despite asking for 3* hotels, all 7 hotels we stayed in seemed like 4* to us and all included breakfast. 7) With such a large and complicated trip there were bound to be a few hiccups (e.g. there was a marathon in Xian one day which meant a lot of roads were closed, so we couldn't access sites). Yocky was in touch with us the entire time and helped us rearrange our plans quickly and ordered complimentary tickets to a show to make up for the inconvenience. We were so nervous about our first trip to China as we speak no mandarin and are strict vegetarian but honestly this was one of the best trips of our life; this company made it so easy for us and I really can't imagine having been able to do it myself any better!

We chose TCT for an 13day/12 night private guided tour trip through Beijing, Hefei, and Shanghai. Lily helped us plan and finalize the itinerary for our trip via email andwas very accommodating and helpful during the entire process. She also kept in contact with us throughout the trip to make sure that everything went smoothly and to our satisfaction. For the city guides, we had Ms Grace in Beijing, Alvin in Hefei, and Rooney in Shanghai. Each of our guides were helpful and informative and made sure that our needs were met along the way, and all of them were flexible with any last-minute requests or issues that came up. Special mention also for our drivers in Beijing and Shanghai who always made sure that we had water and that we got to our destinations on time regardless of the traffic situation. Our trip overall was very action-packed and we were able to see almost everything planned on our schedule including some last-minute inserted locations which was a plus. We had a great time visiting on our first trip to China, and would recommend TCT for anyone looking to looking to plan their own trip there.

We used Top China Tour for a recent trip which included Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai. This was a small group with four to six members. Top China travel did an excellent job. The hotels were all in excellent locations and the service was top notch. The tour guides all spoke very good English and knew the history of all the many places we visited. I always felt very comfortable wherever we went. Everything was organized nicely. I highly recommend Top China Travel as they provided us with a very memorable trip!

We are from Argentina. We have just returned from China where we used TCT services. From the very beginning Janet has been extremely kind and attentive. We have interchanged lots of mails with her, trying to arrange the trip, and she always answered them with the same kindness and responsibility. Our drivers and guides, Liu and Enrique in Beijing, and Angela and her driver in Xi'an have been really WONDERFUL !! Every detail has been perfect. They did every single item they had promised. As it was our wedding anniversary we have been received with flowers and heart chocolates !! Our experience with Top China and especially with Janet, couldn't have been better. For us, their service has been EXCELLENT or even more !!!! Thanks a lot Janet and staff of guides and drivers for making our trip so wonderful !! THANK YOU,THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!!! We were looking for a tour in SW China while in the area for work and found this one. While we wouldn't normally get a private tour but surprisingly it was actually cheaper than most of the group tours in the area and was great value. While I would usually rather keep one guide for the whole tour, as you get to know each other and they get to know what you are interested in, we changed guides 5 times during this trip (fortunately we had the same guide in Kunming at the start and end of the tour which was a real bonus as Murphy, our Kunming based guide, was excellent.) In this case changing guides had the advantage of local knowledge at each site so compensated for the change. Of the 4 guides we had 3 excellent and 1 very good with each of them working hard to look after us and make sure we enjoyed our trip. Vicky, our Dali based guide was also extremely good making our time there a highlight. The tour gives you 2 days at each base ie travel in the morning, have the afternoon and the next day touring the area then drive to the next base. We chose the driving tour as we feel it gives you a better experience of the area and you get to see the locals in action. All the drivers we had were great - they went out of their way to look after us and were very safe, which is saying something for driving in China. While all of the guides were very fluent in English none of the drivers could speak English which was a slight disadvantage as you didn't have the guides with you when traveling between bases but the friendliness and helpfulness of the drivers more than made up for this. The tour was very well organised and we knew what we were doing from the time we met our guide on arrival at the Kunming railway station to when we walked through security at the airport on our way out. The tour comes with 4,5 and 6 star accommodation choices and we went for the cheapest 4 star option. While the English at the hotels was limited the guides made sure we were checked in and out and took care of any issues (which were minimal). The 4 star option is largely "Chinese style" hotels ie designed for Chinese visitors with breakfast consisting of what many westeners would consider dinner style food but there was always eggs and toast for the less adventurous. The hotels were all clean and comfortable and generally very well located. The Hotel in Kunming (Jin Jang Inn) was a bonus as it seemed higher than 4 star and we stayed there both on our way in and out. As well as breakfast, lunch came with the tour which was enjoyable as the guides choose the restaurants so we got a variety. I got the feeling that most of the restaurants were owned by friends or family or there was some arrangement with the guide, but as you get to formally review each guide and the meals at the end of each stop they work hard to make sure you enjoy the meal and there was always an abundance of food. We tried a range of local cuisine and there was only one meal we didn't think was up to par. You get your own dinner which also suited us as there is invariably a range of restaurants or for the more adventurous there is the street vendors and you can choose what you want. The vehicles we were driven in were all very good- plenty of space and very comfortable. Being a private tour, while there was a set itinerary, which was diverse and very interesting with something for most people, the guides could tweak it to suit individual interests eg more time at one site and less at another. It is easy to get a bit templed out but overall the itinerary was a good mic of nature and culture. I would thoroughly recommend the tour and the company and we will be looking to the company if/when we go back - Guilin is next on the list as the guides were very happy to discus what they thought we would and wouldn't enjoy based on working with us on this tour,
