Today we had a great day. We went to the Great Wall. Walked about 1 kilometer of the 8000. We went to a Jade warehouse. We had a great lunch there. We then went to the summer palace and enjoyed the views. We ended our day with a tour of Hutong. We had a fabulous dinner in the home of Mrs. Fan. So far our driver (Mr. Luo)and Dream have been wonderful. Five stars.

Our private tour guide, Jason, picked us up at our hotel and took us to the pier outside of Guilin where we boarded our boat for a cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo. The experience was amazing!! The views were stunning, breathtaking... whichever word you want to use, but I can see why many claim this is the most beautiful region of China. And Jason was so warm, welcoming and accommodating. We learned so much about him, where he's from and the culture in southwest China. It was a great day and an experience I would highly recommend if you're visiting this part of China. We're so thankful Lily at Top China Travel helped us plan this awesome day trip!!

We were looking for a tour in SW China while in the area for work and found this one. While we wouldn't normally get a private tour but surprisingly it was actually cheaper than most of the group tours in the area and was great value. While I would usually rather keep one guide for the whole tour, as you get to know each other and they get to know what you are interested in, we changed guides 5 times during this trip (fortunately we had the same guide in Kunming at the start and end of the tour which was a real bonus as Murphy, our Kunming based guide, was excellent.) In this case changing guides had the advantage of local knowledge at each site so compensated for the change. Of the 4 guides we had 3 excellent and 1 very good with each of them working hard to look after us and make sure we enjoyed our trip. Vicky, our Dali based guide was also extremely good making our time there a highlight. The tour gives you 2 days at each base ie travel in the morning, have the afternoon and the next day touring the area then drive to the next base. We chose the driving tour as we feel it gives you a better experience of the area and you get to see the locals in action. All the drivers we had were great - they went out of their way to look after us and were very safe, which is saying something for driving in China. While all of the guides were very fluent in English none of the drivers could speak English which was a slight disadvantage as you didn't have the guides with you when traveling between bases but the friendliness and helpfulness of the drivers more than made up for this. The tour was very well organised and we knew what we were doing from the time we met our guide on arrival at the Kunming railway station to when we walked through security at the airport on our way out. The tour comes with 4,5 and 6 star accommodation choices and we went for the cheapest 4 star option. While the English at the hotels was limited the guides made sure we were checked in and out and took care of any issues (which were minimal). The 4 star option is largely "Chinese style" hotels ie designed for Chinese visitors with breakfast consisting of what many westeners would consider dinner style food but there was always eggs and toast for the less adventurous. The hotels were all clean and comfortable and generally very well located. The Hotel in Kunming (Jin Jang Inn) was a bonus as it seemed higher than 4 star and we stayed there both on our way in and out. As well as breakfast, lunch came with the tour which was enjoyable as the guides choose the restaurants so we got a variety. I got the feeling that most of the restaurants were owned by friends or family or there was some arrangement with the guide, but as you get to formally review each guide and the meals at the end of each stop they work hard to make sure you enjoy the meal and there was always an abundance of food. We tried a range of local cuisine and there was only one meal we didn't think was up to par. You get your own dinner which also suited us as there is invariably a range of restaurants or for the more adventurous there is the street vendors and you can choose what you want. The vehicles we were driven in were all very good- plenty of space and very comfortable. Being a private tour, while there was a set itinerary, which was diverse and very interesting with something for most people, the guides could tweak it to suit individual interests eg more time at one site and less at another. It is easy to get a bit templed out but overall the itinerary was a good mic of nature and culture. I would thoroughly recommend the tour and the company and we will be looking to the company if/when we go back - Guilin is next on the list as the guides were very happy to discus what they thought we would and wouldn't enjoy based on working with us on this tour,

Almost every Guilin hotel can provide something like this tour, including a bus return with a couple of pleasant stops. The basic set up is hotel pickup, transport to a boat loading area, a flotilla of those boats going down the river, and then some time in Yangshuo. But be careful about the return. It is often an add on item for an additional cost, and the connection in Yangshuo can be a bit dicey if your boat happens to be going behind schedule. So book through your hotel and take a phone so you can contact the tour guide if you need to. But you might also want to stay overnight in Yangshuo. That's probably what I would do if I had it to do over.

We hired TCT as a private guide as we traveled from Shanghai to Beijing with lots of stops in between. We had the most incredible time. Our tour guides and drivers were professional and amazing. Each tour guide treated us as if we were part of their family. They were always prompt and courteous. Most importantly, their knowledge kept us wanting to know more. We loved the traditions and cultures. We highly recommend the Impression shows, especially the one on West Lake. Our favorite over night arrangements was when we stayed at Courtyard 7 in the Hutong, in Beijing. It was nice being part of the culture. Thanks TCT for a most memorable trip.

I highly recommend Top China Travel (TCT) in particular Janet Chan for her excellent professional services in organising our recent tour in China. My wife and I did not want a group tour because we wanted greater flexibility so Janet put together a tour that took in all the major sight seeing cities. It was very well organised, the accommodation was great e.g. excellent locations, English speaking and delicious buffet breakfasts and close to all the major sights that will leave us with lasting memories. Her choice of guides was very good, they also spoke excellent English and had good personalities and were all very knowledgeable, the drivers were also very good and drove safely. In summary we believe that TCT provided a quality value added service and would recommend TCT to anyone looking for a reliable Chinese agency for organising their travels. Top China Travel, in Guilin, organized the transfer from Railway station, Hotel stay, and day trip - seat in coach( 6 persons , with an english speaking tour guide , for the day tour). It was well organized. Day tour included hotel pick up and drop-off, entrance fees, chinese lunch, and a folk custom show. The cable car ride - about 25 mins- was optional, but it was worth it, as reach top quicker , as can have a bird-eye view of the terraced fields, before walking down through the local village. walk- down -took about one hour. First time I booked Top China Travel, through the Internet, and am happy with the service.

In April we had the pleasure of having Juli Liu as a tour guide for three days in Guilin China and the sourronding area. She speaks very good English. Is very friendly, knowledeable, and has a good sense of humor. She asked what we wanted to do and see and made suggestions of things she felt we might enjoy. She took us on a Li River day trip is not to be missed. She advised us on shopping and other things to do on our own. She did not rush us or try to push us to go to certain sights or stores. She stayed with us each day from early morning to what ever time we wanted. She even took us to an evening event after spending a full day showing us around. She also advised us on places to eat. We enjoyed her so much we wished we had allowed more time in Guilian. We plan on return to Guilian and will use Juli again.

I have been to Xi'an before with a larger group so this time booking with only 3 friends made it very enjoyable and a more personable experience for each of us. The cost was reasonable and made the whole time worry free. The restaurant that was recommended by our tour guide Maggie was of excellent quality and fair price. Maggie's english was very good, and knowledge of sites we visited was also very good. The booking agent Janet took care of the logistics of every detail of the trip; she was available to assist us outside of regular working hours and became our translator at the train station when we were having difficulty communicating what we needed.

Top China Travel provided an intense 15 day tour of China. Now that we look back we realize how much we accomplished. It was more expensive than a regular tour, but it was worth it. Very few local people actually understand and speak English, so having a guide to take us around was a great help. We had a different guide in each area, but all were great; Alex, Liang, Kellie, Annie, Gerry, Adam, among others, really made each city trip enjoyable. They provided an overall view of their area, including the main sights and picked an excellent restaurant for our lunches so we were able to sample lots of different local foods. We had a car just for us and the guide basically picked us up at the airport/train station and ended his assignment after checking us in for our flight/train ride to the following city in our itinerary. We couldn't have done everything we did had it not been for the organization of this custom tour. Only issue we had is that we were only 1 day in Xian and therefore missed the cultural night show since we arrived too late into Xian to make it that night; and the following day after touring the Terracotta Soldiers we left in the afternoon for our next stop. Would have liked to have been told about this famous show so we could have maybe rearranged something. Other than this, Top China Travel made our China experience a memorable one.

My 19 year old daughter and her friend wanted to see something of China before spending 8 weeks studying in Beijing. Rebecca from TCT arranged the itinerary. Everything went extremely smoothly and the girls had a wonderful time which included bicycle riding, sechuan opera and the panda breeding center. One of the guides in particular went over and above the call of duty to give the girls a great time. My daughter had her birthday during the trip and rebecca arranged for the guide to buy a beautiful birthday cake for her. it was the trip of a lifetime.

Thanks to Ms Raylene He we had a wonderful and well organised trip to 5 destinations which all went off without a hitch including being met by guides and drivers in each city and looked after very well. This all included several domestic flights a train trip and permits. I have no qualms in recommending this company to other travellers.

My husband and I just returned from a vacation to China. We visited Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Yangtze and Shanghai through Top China Travel (TCT). Yocky from TCT was our travel agent. She was excellent and prompt in answering our questions and help us tremendously in getting our visas. We were pleasantly surprised when she was there along with Lizzie our tour guide to greet us at Guilin airport. We really enjoyed her and Lizzie's company and their in depth knowledge of the city. All the hotels in each of the city we stayed were elegant and meals were delicious with a taste of local flavor. We can't say enough about Yocky and all the tour guides, Jennifer in Beijing, John in Xian, Lizzie in Guilin, & Chris in Shanghai. They were all top notch with their friendly attitudes, professionalism, attention to detail and their passion in the country's culture. We had a great time in China thanks to Top China Travel and their expert tour guides. I would highly recommend anyone interested in planning a vacation in China to use TCT as their agency of choice. Thanks to TCT for a most enjoyable and memorable vacation. AL

A educational tour through the history of the Silk Road, well organised by Janet Chan who was very helpful and easy to communicate with. It is an extensive tour covering great distance-the western border of China - near Afghanistan. There were different tour guides in each area and all were great and some were excellent, Abdul, Shir and Vicky were standouts! as there was little or no English spoken in the western provinces it was necessary to have a guide to explain the sights as well as organise travel and hotel arrangements-also were great in recommending and taking us to great local restaurants. as we are experienced and usually individual travellers we had to suggest that we wanted to see the local areas and sights/people, guides were happy to do so especially in Kashgar where we changed to itinerary from the lake trip to spend time in the markets, teahouses etc -well worth doing as Kashgar and the Uygur people were a highlight of the trip. The tour involved 3 rail, 4 flights and numerous private vehicle trips-all went smoothly although we were not met at one rail station and had to make our own way to the hotel-normally not an issue but at this town there was no-one to speak english so was not a smooth transition. Highlights were off course the big tourist spots of the Beijing , Xian and the incredible terracotta warriors, the Magao grottoes , Labrang Monastery, and the very colourful Zhangye Dana Landform Geological Park, and Dunhuang. We extend our tour spending extra days in Shanghai where we didn't have guides and could be free to get to art galleries etc and then went to Guilin and Yanshuo which were a wonderful and greener change from the western provinces. We were pleased to meet Janet in Guilin. Overall it was a great trip and covered the Silk Road and the rich history that it encompassed, i would suggest less time spent in Urumqi and more tome in Kashgar -there was no need to visa two lakes (we went to the Sacred lake in Urumqi but on reflection would not have that included in the tour. We highly recommend Janet and Top China Travel, but be aware they are a company that has shopping included in Beijing and Xian !

It was very well planned trip by TCT. All the arrangements like hotel stay, pick up drop were perfect. The tour I had for Xian was fun, our group also had a English speaking guide which was the best...The other day I had a private tour of Xian city with a guide..the guide was humble, polite and he showed me most beautiful places across the city and also TCT arranged awesome yummy Chinese lunch for me!!! The consultant I got from TCT was simply the best...she answered almost all of my questions very well...I bothered her every now and then but she always helped me to clear all my doubts.. Overall an awesome experience with TCT...looking forward for other trips with them.
