A educational tour through the history of the Silk Road, well organised by Janet Chan who was very helpful and easy to communicate with. It is an extensive tour covering great distance-the western border of China - near Afghanistan. There were different tour guides in each area and all were great and some were excellent, Abdul, Shir and Vicky were standouts! as there was little or no English spoken in the western provinces it was necessary to have a guide to explain the sights as well as organise travel and hotel arrangements-also were great in recommending and taking us to great local restaurants. as we are experienced and usually individual travellers we had to suggest that we wanted to see the local areas and sights/people, guides were happy to do so especially in Kashgar where we changed to itinerary from the lake trip to spend time in the markets, teahouses etc -well worth doing as Kashgar and the Uygur people were a highlight of the trip. The tour involved 3 rail, 4 flights and numerous private vehicle trips-all went smoothly although we were not met at one rail station and had to make our own way to the hotel-normally not an issue but at this town there was no-one to speak english so was not a smooth transition. Highlights were off course the big tourist spots of the Beijing , Xian and the incredible terracotta warriors, the Magao grottoes , Labrang Monastery, and the very colourful Zhangye Dana Landform Geological Park, and Dunhuang. We extend our tour spending extra days in Shanghai where we didn't have guides and could be free to get to art galleries etc and then went to Guilin and Yanshuo which were a wonderful and greener change from the western provinces. We were pleased to meet Janet in Guilin. Overall it was a great trip and covered the Silk Road and the rich history that it encompassed, i would suggest less time spent in Urumqi and more tome in Kashgar -there was no need to visa two lakes (we went to the Sacred lake in Urumqi but on reflection would not have that included in the tour. We highly recommend Janet and Top China Travel, but be aware they are a company that has shopping included in Beijing and Xian !

Our guide picked us up on time despite all the traffic of National Holiday Week and explained to us early on that her English was not great (however still enough to communicate some history of the village and the region) but she was very friendly and helpful. We were told we would go to another village rather than Ping'an because of the crowds which we much preferred because it meant we could explore this one (however we did not see a long hair show).

We just came back from an eight days trip with Janet at TCT during March 2017. The trip was tailored to our needs as we were in Shanghai for 5 days before starting our trip. We visited Shanghai Xian and Beijing. The help and service received from Janet and TCT were outstanding. Our guides in Shanghai (Sarah) Xian (Cherry) and Beijing (Cathy) were excellent, they all knew the history and were very flexible. The guides were always on time and we had excellent drivers. We would highly recommend TCT and Janet on your next trip to China.

My wife and I planned our two-week tour of China with Maggie of TCT to include Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xi'an and Beijing. We found her to be incredibly prompt and helpful in responding to our emails and flexible in altering the preliminary itinerary to meet our needs. TCT's guides in each of the cities were competent, personable young professionals, well-informed and able to make every day an exciting and knowledge-quenching experience. Again, they were also flexible, caring and responsive to our needs. Overall, we had a fantastic vacation and compliment Maggie and TCT on their outstanding customer service and program quality.

I did this tour with my wife and our adult son in early February - in fact it was Chinese New Year's eve day. We enjoyed it. We did the three star version and were impressed with how easy the guide on the tour bus made it for us. She was attentive and her English was great. The three star boats are remarkably comfortable. We were expecting wooden benches, but the cabin was carpeted, well appointed, and very comfortable. We spent much of the trip on the deck looking at the scenery of the Karst Mountain Formations, which was pretty incredible. At the end of the trip, our guide offered another smaller river cruise that included a cave, but we chose to go off on our own. We rented scooters and had fund going out to see the huge Banyan tree outside of town. Our guide had given us clear instructions on how to find the hotel where the bus picked us up on time for a drive of a couple of hours back to Guilin.

We used Top China Tour for a recent trip which included Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai. This was a small group with four to six members. Top China travel did an excellent job. The hotels were all in excellent locations and the service was top notch. The tour guides all spoke very good English and knew the history of all the many places we visited. I always felt very comfortable wherever we went. Everything was organized nicely. I highly recommend Top China Travel as they provided us with a very memorable trip!

Thanks Top China Travel, Vicky Lu, for coordinating and assisting us in the process of our trip to China and Hong Kong. We enjoyed and learned a lot. The guides, Serena in Beijing, Mason in Xi'an, Meli in Shanghai and Bill in Hong Kong, were very friendly and enthusiastic. Now we have a new vision of China and its people. Thank you again.

When I planning our private trip to china I have read many trip adviser reviews and I have noticed Janet Chan’s name came up a number of times so i sent her an e-mail asked for the best two weeks private tour in China for 6 persons , whiten two days she replied me recommending 5 cities ( Zhangjiajie, hangzhuo , shanghai, Beijing , Guilin ) we went through the program which she sent to us it was excellent so we asked her to go ahead to arrange our journey . it was a great choice we made, The tour guides were knowledgeable and helpful. The hotels which reserved for us by TCT were excellent We can only say thanks for TCT and especially Janet Chan

TCT provided us with EXCELLENT Guides and Drivers. Very attentive to meeting our requirements. In fact all of the arrangements and organization, more than met our requirements. The highlights for us were our visits to the Stone Forest and the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. At the Stone Forest, we benefited from having a knowledgeable guide (Shirley) - she was able to let us see all of its beauty but still avoid the crowds. The Jade Mountain was the highest elevation that we have ever been - over 14000 ft. This is the time of the year to there - 50 F and sunshine. Also thrilling was going through the cloud bank before completing the cable car ride. As far as we could tell, the Minority people's (all over Yunnan) were living harmonious lives. All in all - a wonderful trip.

I have been to Xi'an before with a larger group so this time booking with only 3 friends made it very enjoyable and a more personable experience for each of us. The cost was reasonable and made the whole time worry free. The restaurant that was recommended by our tour guide Maggie was of excellent quality and fair price. Maggie's english was very good, and knowledge of sites we visited was also very good. The booking agent Janet took care of the logistics of every detail of the trip; she was available to assist us outside of regular working hours and became our translator at the train station when we were having difficulty communicating what we needed.

I went to China on July (2017) and had a great experience with TCT. Our organizer was Janet and she was really helpful during our stay in China. They helped us with the itinerary and it was valuable choice to do the tour with an organizer in order to know more places. We had a great time during the 21 days we stayed in China and all the small problems we had, Janet took care of it. Felt really secure and look foward to have another experience with TCT!

We used Top China Travel for planning our trip from Shanghai to Hangzhou. Bonnie from TCT was our contact person. She was very helpful, corresponded with us by email before our trip and was extremely responsive and flexible, trying to accommodate our interests. . Every aspect of the trip was well planned and organized. She purchased our tickets on the bullet train, reserved our hotel in Hangzhou (hotel Shangri-La), arranged for airport transfer, and excellent private guide in Hangzhou and Shanghai. We highly recommend TCT for visiting China. Thank you Bonnie.

Getting too touristy but still really enjoyed. I guess everywhere I go will be tourist infested. I do wish this one could have held on to its authenticity a little more rather than having so many little shopping spots with people trying to sell you their "unique" "handmade" items (which i'm not sure I believe were). But it's also very nice to learn how rice is actually done -- way up here in the mountain. I enjoyed walking all around in the beautiful weather - up and down steps, out to other terraces, through the little enclave in the middle. I enjoyed seeing how very different peoples lives can be. I enjoyed that people still kept their clothing, their methods of doing some things.
