We planned a family trip around China with people joining and leaving during the journey as they had to go back to work. Going the first time to China we decided to book trough an agency to simplify things from our side. We contacted several agencies asking for an offer. TCT was by far the first one to in the most professional way, so we went with them. After 3 weeks of travelling with them I can fully recommend this company when travelling in China.
Especially our consultant, Vicky of whom we just can speak highly of, did a great job with managing to get all things together always on time and the way we wanted it. If there was an issue we could contact her at any time and we could be sure that she will get it done, somehow.
Note: WeChat used to prove very useful when travelling around and get in touch with guides etc.
Thank you TCT Team for organizing this great family holiday.

Planned a trip to china and searched many companies online. Top China Travel was the best one. Their agent Vicky was amazing and gave us with a great offer. When we got there , we were amazed by their services. Guides were fluent in English, very friendly, and punctual. We had a great time and I really recommend TopChinaTravel for anyone who wants to see the best in China.

We were apprehensive of booking the trip to china through a travel agency in China. But we found Maggie, our travel co-ordinator to be extremely helpful n co-operative. We had arranged for a 12 day private tour of Beijing, Xian, Shanghai & Hong Kong. The tour guides and drivers were good. Especially in Beijing, we had Annie as our guide. And she was so friendly, flexible and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed her company. In Xian, we had Sherry who was also gud enough. In Shanghai, we had Nathan who was good but Annie had set our expectations higher. We had asked for Indian Vegetarian food for lunch everywhere and we really surprised by the good Indian food available there. Hotel Novotel Beijing, Skytel in Xian, Sunrise on the Bund in Shanghai & Park hotel in Hong Kong were all very gud. Specially in Shanghai n Hong Kong, there were better vegetarian options in breakfast. Overall we had a wonderful stress-free trip to China and we wud surely recommend TCT to others.

I highly recommend Top China Travel (TCT) in particular Janet Chan for her excellent professional services in organising our recent tour in China. My wife and I did not want a group tour because we wanted greater flexibility so Janet put together a tour that took in all the major sight seeing cities. It was very well organised, the accommodation was great e.g. excellent locations, English speaking and delicious buffet breakfasts and close to all the major sights that will leave us with lasting memories. Her choice of guides was very good, they also spoke excellent English and had good personalities and were all very knowledgeable, the drivers were also very good and drove safely. In summary we believe that TCT provided a quality value added service and would recommend TCT to anyone looking for a reliable Chinese agency for organising their travels. Lily, the tour organizer for Top China Travel, was wonderful. She planned everything and adjusted the trip to match our specific destination requests (My daughter and I were traveling alone). At every destination on the trip (from Beijing to Guilin), a driver and guide met us so we never had to worry about transportation or the challenges of making ourselves understood. Our guides varied from being very poor (when it was a contracted city guide to see the Great Wall or the Forbidden City) to the very good (when it was their guides for stops in Guilin or the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park). The Beijing guides couldn't speak English or spoke it poorly, they made us go to destinations no one wanted to see, and they were rude. Those places would be worth visiting on your own because Beijing's subway system is pretty straightforward and arranging transport to the Great Wall seemed uncomplicated. We are not great with guides in that we prefer to travel on our own and "discover" the joys of a new place without the rigidity of a tour, but having a driver and in some places a guide can be essential in China. If we didn't have a guide in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, we probably would still be there! In very few places do people speak English, so figuring out the queue system or even the need to hold onto your ticket for endless checking made the presence of a guide rather handy. The downside of having a guide, though, is how their presence limits your spontaneity and impedes your ability to choose where or what you want to eat. Eating Chinese food three times a day can be pretty depressing to your taste buds. From this trip I learned ( I have never used a tour company before and I have traveled all over the world) that you need to play an active role in requesting the kind of accommodations you want. We prefer to be in walking distance of city centers and having an English speaking person on staff would have been nice. In Xi'an we were outside the city walls and, throughout our trip, rarely did any of the hospitality staff in the many hotels we stayed in speak any English. That oversight was my fault because I failed to request those things. I expected some English proficiency from people working in the hospitality industry, but in reality English speakers didn't appear to be very common. Beijing and Xi'an were one time places for us (the crowds at the Terra-cotta soldiers were literally overwhelming), but the mountain region in the Hunan Province and the Li River in Guilin (bike riding in Guilin was a real highlight!) were delightful. No matter where you go, though, be prepared for endless crowds, a lot of shoving, and an ongoing din as you navigate this part of China. Top China Travel made an extremely challenging trip (China is not an easy country to visit- the inconsistency of sanitary toilet facilities, a form of public behavior that can be very disconcerting to visitors, and the total absence of any multi-culturalism), one that was a bit less challenging. We had a fascinating time in China. Many of the destinations we chose were not for the faint of heart or for someone who is new to international travel. In most places, we were the object of intense curiosity and the subject of many, many photos. The Great Wall alone made the trip worth doing, so don't be put off by the extreme hustle and noise that will surround you night and day. Top China Travel certainly helped make our trip one we will never forget!

TCT made up a fantastic week tour for us starting with Guilin. We were met at the airport by Warren who could speak good English and we were transferred to Guilin Bravo Hotel which is a nice hotel. In the evening Warren asked if we would like to goon a river trip which proved fantastic, not only for the nice bridges and illuminated fine buildings but also for the cormorant fishing and music playing among others.Warren timed the boat tour so that after 8pm we would be near the Waterfall hotel to enjoy the water cascade from the 16th floor. Next morning we were taken on a day cruise that included lunch among the beautiful scenery upto Yangshue. Warren suggested that we go and see the beautiful spectacular show given every day with some 300 participants. We enjoyed this immensely though it was a bit rainy, but if it wasn't for Warren, we would have stayed all night looking for a taxi to take us to the hotel....Next day we first explored the village to see the old Banyan tree and other interesting sights and then we were taken by car back to Guilin airport. This trip was awful as the road is all broken but the driver was good at avoiding pot-holes! From Guilin we flew to Hangzhou where we found Vicky waiting for us. She took spoke good English and spent some time explaining to us the fantasy stories of lovers, serpents and dragons to be able to appreciate Chinese culture while we visited West Lake, Lingyin Temple. |After lunch at local restaurant we were taken to Meijiawu GreenTea plantation. The next day we we took the train to Shanghai. The waiting room was so crowded but Vicky got the tickets for us and stayed with us until we went on the train. At Shanghai train station we were met by Ryan. He could speak good English and had some jokes for us too! The same evening, we asked to go on a river cruise by night which proved breath-taking.The next day we were taken around Shanghai visiting Yuyuan garden TheBund among others. The highlight was the Oriental Pearl TV tower with its glass floors! The next day the driver picked us up from the hotel early in the morning so as to take the flight to Beijing. I can really say that TCT made a good job providing with a good varied programme and good tour guides, especially Warren at Guilin.

We used China Travel to visit Guilin from Hong Kong by train at very short notice - we've never done this before so a little nervous - we did this May 2017. We found all the staff and travel arrangements excellent. Everything flowed very easily. Staff were punctual and as helpful as can be. Unfortunately we don't speak any local languages so the very high standard of English spoken by all was very much appreciated. The itinerary suggested by China Travel was great - really fascinating. There is a small issue with amenities at the large 5* state run hotels in which we stayed - most notably the food minor stuff such as no good coffee! restricted range of foods and service in the cafes not really good, just a bit frowzy so not really what an international traveler may expect - but these hotels were very successful and popular with internal travelers - so I may be out of step here, also gym facilities restricted access and poor. But these are minor quibbles given how great the trip was. The bedrooms at these hotels were excellent. What I'd like to stress is how welcome we were made and how pleasant and relaxed and accommodating everyone we met with was. Well worth a visit and a trusted agent in our view.

I booked the 8 day Beijing, Xian and Shanghai tour. Merry was our guide in Beijing. She was great. Met us at airport. Was on time for all transfers and communicated everything to us ahead of time. We let her make the food choices for us after she enquirered what we like. She chose very well. The food was outstanding. She asked what we liked and catered our tour to our liking. We added to one day making it a 12 hour day. She was polite and professional throughout. We stayed at Howard Johnsons Paragon hotel. It wAs a nice hotel and the complimentary breakfasts were great. Off to the next portion of our trip.

My husband is from USA and I am from Malaysia, we recently planned to have our lifetime honeymoon in Kunming, so I probed though website and the sale representative Janet Chan manifests her zealous assistance through this, her email provided all the details and even her enjoyable experiences traveling with her family, this in turns projected the values of life with our loved ones during the journey. Thank you very much Janet Chan, you have indeed done a great job through your services to provide useful information. May your company has more business to come. Wei lee

We were looking for a tour in SW China while in the area for work and found this one. While we wouldn't normally get a private tour but surprisingly it was actually cheaper than most of the group tours in the area and was great value. While I would usually rather keep one guide for the whole tour, as you get to know each other and they get to know what you are interested in, we changed guides 5 times during this trip (fortunately we had the same guide in Kunming at the start and end of the tour which was a real bonus as Murphy, our Kunming based guide, was excellent.) In this case changing guides had the advantage of local knowledge at each site so compensated for the change. Of the 4 guides we had 3 excellent and 1 very good with each of them working hard to look after us and make sure we enjoyed our trip. Vicky, our Dali based guide was also extremely good making our time there a highlight. The tour gives you 2 days at each base ie travel in the morning, have the afternoon and the next day touring the area then drive to the next base. We chose the driving tour as we feel it gives you a better experience of the area and you get to see the locals in action. All the drivers we had were great - they went out of their way to look after us and were very safe, which is saying something for driving in China. While all of the guides were very fluent in English none of the drivers could speak English which was a slight disadvantage as you didn't have the guides with you when traveling between bases but the friendliness and helpfulness of the drivers more than made up for this. The tour was very well organised and we knew what we were doing from the time we met our guide on arrival at the Kunming railway station to when we walked through security at the airport on our way out. The tour comes with 4,5 and 6 star accommodation choices and we went for the cheapest 4 star option. While the English at the hotels was limited the guides made sure we were checked in and out and took care of any issues (which were minimal). The 4 star option is largely "Chinese style" hotels ie designed for Chinese visitors with breakfast consisting of what many westeners would consider dinner style food but there was always eggs and toast for the less adventurous. The hotels were all clean and comfortable and generally very well located. The Hotel in Kunming (Jin Jang Inn) was a bonus as it seemed higher than 4 star and we stayed there both on our way in and out. As well as breakfast, lunch came with the tour which was enjoyable as the guides choose the restaurants so we got a variety. I got the feeling that most of the restaurants were owned by friends or family or there was some arrangement with the guide, but as you get to formally review each guide and the meals at the end of each stop they work hard to make sure you enjoy the meal and there was always an abundance of food. We tried a range of local cuisine and there was only one meal we didn't think was up to par. You get your own dinner which also suited us as there is invariably a range of restaurants or for the more adventurous there is the street vendors and you can choose what you want. The vehicles we were driven in were all very good- plenty of space and very comfortable. Being a private tour, while there was a set itinerary, which was diverse and very interesting with something for most people, the guides could tweak it to suit individual interests eg more time at one site and less at another. It is easy to get a bit templed out but overall the itinerary was a good mic of nature and culture. I would thoroughly recommend the tour and the company and we will be looking to the company if/when we go back - Guilin is next on the list as the guides were very happy to discus what they thought we would and wouldn't enjoy based on working with us on this tour,

Raylene did a wonderful job organizing our tour to meet our time constraints. She answered all questions very efficiently. Our tour guide Rocco met us at the airport and the Driver was waiting near by. I have specific dietary restrictions and the guide was extremely helpful communicating that with the restaurants. The trip was so easy and we always felt safe. My husband and I are looking forward to booking a more extended trip in the future. There is so much to see and the food is wonderful!
