As a partner for few events in China in a different localisation and with different programs, the TCT represented by Mrs Janet Chan, showed unexpected involvement on all details. Helpful hints, flexibility and many other features ( relations with local subcontractors ) made our business on highest leavel with uncommon feedback....

My name is Capt Prasad Mani and with my wife Rita completed a 8 day trip organised by TCT Gullin pic Ms Bonnie. She put up a fantastic programme and arranged 4.star hotels as per our request and English speaking guides. We had Cathy at Beijing, Jackie and Amy at Xian, Echo and Jenny at Shanghai. The trip, food and luxury cars with drivers were very comfortable and both safe and on time. All the guides were very professional knowledgeable catered to all our needs. They were close yet not getting personal that they became good friends. We look forward to returning to China and use the services of Bonnie and TCT. We would recommend their services Show less

We enjoyed our trip very much. Wendy was great, both as a guide and as a person. We had an unfortunate fall accidant during the trip. Wendy and her managers from the office took excellent care of us, stayed with us in the hospital (where almost no one spoke english) and changed the tour plan accordingly. They were also very attentive to our dietary requests during lunch. I highly recommend TCT Guilin.

We are a group of 14 people. We really enjoyed the trip in Guilin which was arranged by TCT Bonnie. Bonnie is very professional and enthusiastic. Guilin is very beautiful place with nice natural scenery. Our trip in Guilin has been unforgettable. We will highly recommend our friends to use TCT for their trip in China.

For my recent trip to China I used 'Top China Travel' to book and arrange for my private tour of three different cities in China; Shanghai, Xi'an, and Dunhuang. In each place I was met by a guide who spoke English and a driver. The agency booked all the accommodation, fights, and an itinerary which included the best tourist attractions in each city and two meals a day. My guides Larry, Miki, and Caroline not only showed me the cultural sites, they also explained the local customs, food and lifestyles. I stayed in great hotels, in fantastic locations in each city. I loved the food, people and saw some amazing sites. the whole trip seamed effortless for me and on my next trip to China I will use this agency to book my tour, I highly recommend Vicky Lu as your travel agent.

I went to China with my family( wife & two children) for sightseeing on 16th June 2017 for a seven days itinerary in China, three days in Hongkong & three days in Singapore . We booked our flight, hotel rooms and train tickets by our self from UAE. Hotel booking we made through Booking.com . After evaluating the charges of various tour operators in China through internet ,we engaged TCT ( Top China Travel ) for our sightseeing arrangement in China – Beijing , Xian and Shanghai. We requested for one private vehicle and English speaking guide. One Miss. Joyce was our contact person in TCT. Thanks for Joyce, she arranged everything perfectly . We reached Beijing at 2300hrs and our guide Mr. Jack receive us at Beijing airport and adrop us in the Shangri-la hotel. They provided a six setter Toyota van exclusively for us . Jack stayed with us till we completed check in to the room. Jack speak good English and sound knowledge about all the monuments, shopping area, good restaurants in Beijing area. We spent three days in Beijing- Great wall in cable car, Summer palace, Lama Temple, Beijing Zoo to see Panda and went to Xian by fast train. Train tickets we purchased online and they deliver to our hotel one day prior to our arrival in Beijing. Fast train is very neat and tidy. Seat arrangements are similar to flight- two seat on each side. There is a shelf for storing large size baggage neat the entrance. Hand baggage could be stored in the overhead storage area .Train was moving at a speed of 280-315 Km per hour, but we don’t feel any vibration inside the train. Clean toilets are provided in each compartments. It is advisable to take fast train instead of domestic flights in China. Xian our Guide was waiting for us at railway station –Miss. Christina . She also was very professional ,sound knowledge of xian sightseeing places. She use to give us a perfect description /history of each monuments to us in the vehicle on the way to each location. Terracotta warriors, Xian museum , Art museum are main highlights of Xian. We went Xian to Shanghai in flight . our Guide Christina accompany us to air port till we receive our boarding pass. In china an English speaking guide is essential to support us everywhere , since local people cannot communicate in English- even at KFC very difficult to purchase food. But in Xian Air port ,our 1700 Hrs flight cancelled at 2300hrs and send us to a local hotel by airline. Next day morning they arranged flight Xian to Shanghai . As per our fellow passengers flight cancellation is quite normal in China. Hence Fast train is always better for domestic trip . Due to flight cancellation our sightseeing time was very limited in Shanghai. TCT Guide Mr.Mark tried his best to show us maximum locations. Miss.Joyce was in touch with us in Whatsup and extended her full support to make our trip comfortable. In Beijing and Shanghai we cancelled few prearranged sightseeing due to bad weather and lack of time. But TCT refund the charges for such cancelled sightseeing . It is really appreciated, normally tour operators will not refund . We paid 30% of TCT charges to them by TT from Dubai and remaining amount by Cash US$ at Beijing . Our hotel Shangri-la at HaiDian -Beijing was very good and Sheraton at Xian & Shanghai was also comfortable . Most of the hotels in China serve pork items ,was the only thing not comfortable for my family. It is worth visiting China and I can recommend TCT since they are very cooperative , professional and reasonable price . Best time to visit China is during spring –ie April- May

We started out in Beijing and then traveled by fast train and airplanes, visiting Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshou, and finally Shanghai. We saw all the most famous and auspicious sites, scenery and nature and experienced the amazing people and culture of China. Having tour guides and drivers to ourselves made the trip intimate, friendly and provided a rare opportunity to be part of the travel rather than onlookers. Eating lunch with a retired woman in Shanghai in her home was a highlight. This is one of the best trips we have ever taken. Thank you to all our guides and drivers, Janet and Top China Travel.

I wanted to visit Tibet, and based on the very positive reviews for this company, I booked with them and was not disappointed.
Our contact was Janet, and she was great both in preparing the trip (including answering immediately to our questions, even when it was midnight in China) and in making sure everything worked out smoothly (including checking at 5:00 am that we indeed got our transport to the airport).
In Tibet, we took the "5 days Lhasa & Yamdrok Lake" tour. On the way to Tibet I had a stopover in Beijing, and took the opportunity to do two days of sightseeing. I asked Janet for recommendations, and she suggested the day tours "Hiking on Jinshanling Great Wall" and "Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, The Temple of Heaven".
I think these tours were indeed the highlights of both Beijing and Tibet for us, and if I would go to Tibet again (e.g. with my wife and son, who could not come with us this time) I would book the same tours.
I usually prefer to organise my travels myself, but it seemed the only realistic possibility to get a Tibet travel permit is to book with an approved travel agency. In general, when booking with an agency, you pay slightly more and have fewer options, but on the other hand, it saves a lot of preparation time and is a lot safer if you don't know much about the country you travel to.

In Beijing, the expertise of the travel agency got our group on the Great Wall at a spot where almost no other tourists were - this spot was (almost) inaccessible due to a construction zone. On my own, I certainly would not have discovered this possibility. The other tour let us see the highlights of Beijing in one efficient and cheap bus tour, but on the other hand, it included a bit of (I guess) sponsored stops at a "Traditional Chinese Medicine" institute and a pearl factory. I would rather have paid a bit more and skipped these promotions, but they were short, and I just relaxed with a drink in the air-conditioned cafeteria. (During the preparation, Janet told me about the "shopping" that was included, and the "Jinshanling Great Wall" tour without shopping, but for the "Forbidden City" tour there was no alternative without shopping.)

In Tibet, the first day was for acclimatisation to the thin air, and indeed I was out of breath from just climbing the stairs to our hotel room. But after basically sleeping the first day, I was OK the next days, and for me the visits to the monasteries and the Potala Palace were absolutely amazing. Individual photos cannot convey the atmosphere of these large buildings with thousands of small and large rooms full of statues, pictures, scriptures, every square inch decorated, and everything with ancient traditions, but still in use today. This was the main reason I wanted to visit Tibet, and I was not disappointed. My daughter also enjoyed the mountain tour a lot, although to me it seemed surprisingly similar to the Alps (we live in Switzerland), just 4000 meters higher, and with cows replaced by yaks :-)
The only little inconvenience was the transport from and to the airport, which is about 50km from Lhasa. When we arrived, the driver was not there yet (it turned out his previous clients, who needed to go to the airport, had been late), and after he arrived, we still had to wait for some hour for the next clients to arrive at the airport (their plane was delayed). Well, that is what you get with cheap transport (included in the package). The opposite thing happened on the way back - the transport that would have been included in the package did not go early enough for the plane that was booked for us, so we had to pay 400 Yuan extra for private transport. But then this was super efficient, picking us up exactly at the promised time and bringing us to the airport at the right time to check in.

Summary: Amazing destination, very well organised tours, would book again with them!

We did a private tour of Beijing and the Mutianyu portion of the Great Wall in October. The company seamlessly put together the tour for us (graciously making changes to accommodate our preferences) without any problems. All the staff I dealt with (Joyce as the organizer and Sisi as the tour guide) was absolutely fantastic. Very kind and knowledgeable people who goes out of their way to make suggestions to ensure the most amazing experience you could possibly have. I wholeheartedly recommend this company for anyone wanting to travel to China. Truly an amazing company!

I traveled Zhangjiajie with my wife. After finding TCT, I customized my travel with TCT. Vicky in TCT offered me a right plan that I was looking for. Travel guide, Victor was sincerely guided us and responded to our on-site requests. I left my earrings in the hotel and contacted Victor for it. With his help, Hotel sent it to me with one-day shipping and I received it safely. This made my travel more enjoyable with one more great memory. Zhangjiajie is must see place. I still remember breath-taking view. With kind people, it is more shiny.

Top China Travel is the the tops! I booked an 21 day tour of China for my husband and I and from the very first contact with Lily Lui I was totally impressed. We communicated via e-mail and Lily was very quick and helpful with her responses. Because this was not our first trip to China, I wanted an itinerary that was different from the norm. Lily's recommendations were top notch. The hotels she used were top shelf as we requested. Our guides and drivers were fantastic. What impressed me the most was that when we were in China, Lily called to speak to me and make sure everything was going well. When I ran into some issues due to altitude sickness, I contacted her and she had the itinerary changes done and finalized within an hour. This was a private tour with guide and driver and I honestly can say there was not one thing I wished we had done differently. Thanks to Top China Travel and Lily our trip to China was perfect. I will definitely be contacting Lily when we return to China for yet another visit.

I recently visited China with my son and his friend. Janet Chan’s patience with us as we kept changing our minds on where to go and what to do was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to China. Starting in Chengdu we were met at the airport by Summer and the driver. They were on time and Summer was excellent with explanations and answered all our questions. She did not rush us and we had the time to see and take all the pictures we wanted. On To Xi’an . We were met at the airport by Lili and the driver. She was knowledgeable and very interesting. While visiting the Terracotta Soldiers she made sure that we had the best views and even helped us with finding the best prices for our souvenirs. She suggested we visit the wall and while there we saw the night time show. We also visited the People’s park ( a suggestion from Lili) and were amazed at all the activities there. We had decided to visit Pingyao on our own and really enjoyed walking around the city and even visited the underground castle. As we did not book any tours for this town our kind host at the hostel drove us to the castle and back. While there I lost my train ticket. We contacted Janet, and her agent, the driver and the train station were extremely helpful in helping me. When we arrived in Beijing the driver went out of his way to help me get the refund for my ticket and I will be forever grateful. We had only one issue through no fault of Top China Travel, with the guide the day we went to the Forbidden City, Summer Palace and The Temple of Heaven. We were picked up on time, we were rushed through the Forbidden City with little explanation. There was no time to visit or take pictures. We did have more time in the afternoon for the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace but I would have like more information about all three. Our last day was memorable . The Great Wall that Janet suggested was spectacular and I managed to walk to the tenth post. We had more than enough time to enjoy this experience. A short tour of Water Town after an excellent lunch was also included. Even though it took longer to reach our destination the spectacular views were so worth the bus ride and on the way we got to see the country side. We found the people of China most helpful, friendly and kind and it is a trip I will remember forever. I thank you, Janet for your help in making this amazing trip of a lifetime possible and being there when we needed help. Needless to say I would not hesitate to recommend Top China Travel to anyone. They are very professional and you get the feeling that they personally care that you have a great China experience. Janine

Our family of my wife and I plus two children and their families worked with Top China Tours on an 11-day private tour. The result was a smoothly run tour with excellent guides, good buses and well handled air and rail journeys. The 5-start hotels were top notch. Our family of 8 had a fantastic learning experience going to Beijing, Xian, Gulin/Yangshou and Shanghai. We hit the usual tourist spots, but Janet, our tour director also included smaller sites and special events to enhance the private tour. She was excellent at adding flexibility to the tour so that one couple went on a pre-tour Yangtze cruise, and the family with two children got to Happy Valley park so the kids could experience a Chines theme park. Overall the whole family had a great travel experience thanks to Janet and the others at Top China Tours.

I’m going to begin by saying we highly recommend China Travel, specifically our tour director Janet Chan, for your travel arrangements in China. They offer value, quality, professionalism and even friendship. And if you run into trouble, they are there to help you out. Four of us experienced it all during our 21 day tour of the country. And after using a tour company for nearly month with seven amazing tour guides you really get to know their worth – this one went above and beyond. Now the details on why we loved this company. Our totally custom tour of China took in the breadth of Central China, from Shanghai, Guilin, Hangzhou and Beijing to Xian, Chongqing and Chengdu. Leon collaborated for several months before the trip with our group leader, Alan Holtzman, on the itinerary. Alan did a lot of research on where we would go and would submit his ideas by e-mail to Janet who would in turn make suggestions about alternatives if there was something we missed or warnings if one particular venue was too far or too physically demanding. After months of back and forth, they came up with an incredible itinerary that would include the major cities of China, well known destinations like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall in Beijing, the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian and a three day cruise down the Yangtze to the Three Gorges dam. Our tour also took us to some not so traveled paths to places like Leshan with its giant Buddha, and an incredible journey to Mount Emei and the Monastery of Ten Thousand Years. We saw old and new China in ways packaged tours could not approach. Each place was fascinating – some magical, like our short cruise down the Li River and other’s just fun like exploring the ancient river town of Wuzhen. The price for the entire tour, not including hotels and some meals, was surprisingly affordable – less per person than our 14-day cruise we took to get to Shanghai from Hong Kong. The fee included the Yangtze cruise, flights, train tickets, tours, guides and drivers, attraction fares and lunches. A word about lunches. Many of our friends who visited China via tour packages complained about the bland food served day after day. We had a totally different experience. Our lunches were wonderful. Each reflected the region or city we were in and included as many dishes as we wanted off extensive restaurant menus, plus tall beers on hot days. Our wonderful guides helped us out with the dishes knowing our tolerance for spicy heat and weird food. None of us had any health issues due to food or drink on the trip. We were provided with English speaking guides and experienced drivers for every destination. They were heart and soul of our experience – a joy to be around and learn from. I will go into detail about each tour in other TA reviews about specific destinations. But our guides became our friends in a very short time. Their English names were Dream, Melody, Tony, Kenneth, Jim, Li Li, and Helen. All made sure we were greeted at the airport or train station, checked into the hotel and got our plane or train when we departed. They were on-time, funny, entertaining, knowledgeable and above all, caring. If you needed anything, they would go out of their way to find it. They helped you bargain when shopping, select dishes from exotic menus and get you into the priority check-in lines at the train stations and airports. They even helped my wife find Western-style toilets – not an easy task. (The Chinese version was too hard on her knees.) Our drivers were very experienced driving in the chaos that reigns in Chinese roads… roads full of inexperienced drivers who do things that are jaw dropping and dangerous. Wear seat belts; you’ll feel a lot safer. The cars and vans provided were all in good order and mostly newer models. Before our tour we took a cruise from Hong Kong to Shanghai, so we had a lot of luggage. So much that Leon had to order a second car and driver just for our luggage after the tour began. AND HE DIDN’T CHARGE US ANYTHING MORE! I titled this review “our guardian angels.” When you travel as much as we do you know that there’s always the possibility of unexpected “adventures.” After our cruise down the Yangtze we stayed overnight in Yichang, and then were scheduled to fly back to Shanghai, where, a day later, we would catch our flight back to San Diego. We boarded the Yichang plane on arainy morning and waited on the tarmac for nearly an hour before the captain announced that the flight was weather-delayed. We deplaned, and waited in the terminal for the flight to be cleared. We called Leon to alert him to the delay, so he could contact our guide in Shangha about the change in plans. We waited in the airport for four hours before it was announced our flight was cancelled. The staff at the airline spoke little English and we worried it would be hard if not impossible to find another flight or alternative transportation, since the bad weather was affecting much of western China. But we had a friend in China. Janet had been keeping track of our flight and working on alternative arrangements. She booked us on a flight to Hangzhou where we would take a high-speed train to Shanghai. After another brief delay, our new flight took off for Hangzhou. When we landed there, our former tour-guide Tony and his driver met us and took us to the train station an hour away. He led us to the platform, handed us the tickets and made sure we got on the right train. An hour later, we were met in Shanghai by a new guide and driver who took us to our hotel. A three hour journey turned into a 1- hour odyssey, but thanks to Janet and her team we made it to Shanghai in time to enjoy a half-day there before catching our flight home. There we many things we loved about China, the history, art, culture and especially their people who were universally friendly and caring. There are also dark sides, like pollution, explosive growth that erases historic districts and information censorship (although the people were very savvy about current affairs and recent history). We agreed that many of those issues are being addressed by a more enlightened leadership. In the end, it was a magnificent adventure, made possible by China Travel’s Janet Chan and her talented team. We thank them and look forward to seeing our China friends again soon.
