My 19 year old daughter and her friend wanted to see something of China before spending 8 weeks studying in Beijing. Rebecca from TCT arranged the itinerary. Everything went extremely smoothly and the girls had a wonderful time which included bicycle riding, sechuan opera and the panda breeding center. One of the guides in particular went over and above the call of duty to give the girls a great time. My daughter had her birthday during the trip and rebecca arranged for the guide to buy a beautiful birthday cake for her. it was the trip of a lifetime.

I’m going to begin by saying we highly recommend China Travel, specifically our tour director Janet Chan, for your travel arrangements in China. They offer value, quality, professionalism and even friendship. And if you run into trouble, they are there to help you out. Four of us experienced it all during our 21 day tour of the country. And after using a tour company for nearly month with seven amazing tour guides you really get to know their worth – this one went above and beyond. Now the details on why we loved this company. Our totally custom tour of China took in the breadth of Central China, from Shanghai, Guilin, Hangzhou and Beijing to Xian, Chongqing and Chengdu. Leon collaborated for several months before the trip with our group leader, Alan Holtzman, on the itinerary. Alan did a lot of research on where we would go and would submit his ideas by e-mail to Janet who would in turn make suggestions about alternatives if there was something we missed or warnings if one particular venue was too far or too physically demanding. After months of back and forth, they came up with an incredible itinerary that would include the major cities of China, well known destinations like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall in Beijing, the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian and a three day cruise down the Yangtze to the Three Gorges dam. Our tour also took us to some not so traveled paths to places like Leshan with its giant Buddha, and an incredible journey to Mount Emei and the Monastery of Ten Thousand Years. We saw old and new China in ways packaged tours could not approach. Each place was fascinating – some magical, like our short cruise down the Li River and other’s just fun like exploring the ancient river town of Wuzhen. The price for the entire tour, not including hotels and some meals, was surprisingly affordable – less per person than our 14-day cruise we took to get to Shanghai from Hong Kong. The fee included the Yangtze cruise, flights, train tickets, tours, guides and drivers, attraction fares and lunches. A word about lunches. Many of our friends who visited China via tour packages complained about the bland food served day after day. We had a totally different experience. Our lunches were wonderful. Each reflected the region or city we were in and included as many dishes as we wanted off extensive restaurant menus, plus tall beers on hot days. Our wonderful guides helped us out with the dishes knowing our tolerance for spicy heat and weird food. None of us had any health issues due to food or drink on the trip. We were provided with English speaking guides and experienced drivers for every destination. They were heart and soul of our experience – a joy to be around and learn from. I will go into detail about each tour in other TA reviews about specific destinations. But our guides became our friends in a very short time. Their English names were Dream, Melody, Tony, Kenneth, Jim, Li Li, and Helen. All made sure we were greeted at the airport or train station, checked into the hotel and got our plane or train when we departed. They were on-time, funny, entertaining, knowledgeable and above all, caring. If you needed anything, they would go out of their way to find it. They helped you bargain when shopping, select dishes from exotic menus and get you into the priority check-in lines at the train stations and airports. They even helped my wife find Western-style toilets – not an easy task. (The Chinese version was too hard on her knees.) Our drivers were very experienced driving in the chaos that reigns in Chinese roads… roads full of inexperienced drivers who do things that are jaw dropping and dangerous. Wear seat belts; you’ll feel a lot safer. The cars and vans provided were all in good order and mostly newer models. Before our tour we took a cruise from Hong Kong to Shanghai, so we had a lot of luggage. So much that Leon had to order a second car and driver just for our luggage after the tour began. AND HE DIDN’T CHARGE US ANYTHING MORE! I titled this review “our guardian angels.” When you travel as much as we do you know that there’s always the possibility of unexpected “adventures.” After our cruise down the Yangtze we stayed overnight in Yichang, and then were scheduled to fly back to Shanghai, where, a day later, we would catch our flight back to San Diego. We boarded the Yichang plane on arainy morning and waited on the tarmac for nearly an hour before the captain announced that the flight was weather-delayed. We deplaned, and waited in the terminal for the flight to be cleared. We called Leon to alert him to the delay, so he could contact our guide in Shangha about the change in plans. We waited in the airport for four hours before it was announced our flight was cancelled. The staff at the airline spoke little English and we worried it would be hard if not impossible to find another flight or alternative transportation, since the bad weather was affecting much of western China. But we had a friend in China. Janet had been keeping track of our flight and working on alternative arrangements. She booked us on a flight to Hangzhou where we would take a high-speed train to Shanghai. After another brief delay, our new flight took off for Hangzhou. When we landed there, our former tour-guide Tony and his driver met us and took us to the train station an hour away. He led us to the platform, handed us the tickets and made sure we got on the right train. An hour later, we were met in Shanghai by a new guide and driver who took us to our hotel. A three hour journey turned into a 1- hour odyssey, but thanks to Janet and her team we made it to Shanghai in time to enjoy a half-day there before catching our flight home. There we many things we loved about China, the history, art, culture and especially their people who were universally friendly and caring. There are also dark sides, like pollution, explosive growth that erases historic districts and information censorship (although the people were very savvy about current affairs and recent history). We agreed that many of those issues are being addressed by a more enlightened leadership. In the end, it was a magnificent adventure, made possible by China Travel’s Janet Chan and her talented team. We thank them and look forward to seeing our China friends again soon.

I booked my flights without a tour thinking I could do it on my own. I soon realised it was not so easy as I thought. Top Travel China were a good option for booking a tour. Vicky helped with hotels, tours on our own (2 of us) and joining group tours. She arranged picking us up and dropping us off in luxury vehicles (Except the groups tours, which were in the normal not so great vans). The experience was awesome. Do be clear if you prefer spending more time in the village areas rather than the cities, but Vicky booked some awesome tours with some great guides, Annie in particular. A great service I have to say and what a fabulous trip.

When planning our China trip we read many trip advisor reviews and noticed Janet Chan’s name came up a number of times so we asked for her to arrange our journey across this fascinating land. What a great choice we made, she listened and responded to our questions and arranged all our trip that went off without any problems. We didn’t want shopping nor group travel and she responded brilliantly. Two days hiking on the wall with fabulous guide Miko, in fact all our guides and drivers were just excellent. High speed train meant we saw lots of China’s varied countryside and went to some out of the way places. We can only say great things about TCT and especially Janet Chan if you are planning a trip. Thank you Janet for an exciting and memorable trip!

I recently visited China with my son and his friend. Janet Chan’s patience with us as we kept changing our minds on where to go and what to do was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to China. Starting in Chengdu we were met at the airport by Summer and the driver. They were on time and Summer was excellent with explanations and answered all our questions. She did not rush us and we had the time to see and take all the pictures we wanted. On To Xi’an . We were met at the airport by Lili and the driver. She was knowledgeable and very interesting. While visiting the Terracotta Soldiers she made sure that we had the best views and even helped us with finding the best prices for our souvenirs. She suggested we visit the wall and while there we saw the night time show. We also visited the People’s park ( a suggestion from Lili) and were amazed at all the activities there. We had decided to visit Pingyao on our own and really enjoyed walking around the city and even visited the underground castle. As we did not book any tours for this town our kind host at the hostel drove us to the castle and back. While there I lost my train ticket. We contacted Janet, and her agent, the driver and the train station were extremely helpful in helping me. When we arrived in Beijing the driver went out of his way to help me get the refund for my ticket and I will be forever grateful. We had only one issue through no fault of Top China Travel, with the guide the day we went to the Forbidden City, Summer Palace and The Temple of Heaven. We were picked up on time, we were rushed through the Forbidden City with little explanation. There was no time to visit or take pictures. We did have more time in the afternoon for the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace but I would have like more information about all three. Our last day was memorable . The Great Wall that Janet suggested was spectacular and I managed to walk to the tenth post. We had more than enough time to enjoy this experience. A short tour of Water Town after an excellent lunch was also included. Even though it took longer to reach our destination the spectacular views were so worth the bus ride and on the way we got to see the country side. We found the people of China most helpful, friendly and kind and it is a trip I will remember forever. I thank you, Janet for your help in making this amazing trip of a lifetime possible and being there when we needed help. Needless to say I would not hesitate to recommend Top China Travel to anyone. They are very professional and you get the feeling that they personally care that you have a great China experience. Janine

I contacted TCT TopChinaTravel Guellin for my trip to china, the travel consultant "Raylene" is very proffesional, she make every things easy and possible, also.she helps us to prepare a rich and comprehensive program. Also it is very reactive whatever by mail or by other means of communication.
The welcome at the airport was perfect as all visits mentioned in our trip programme. Their prices are very competitive too. I strongly recommend to choose this agency.

The tour of China arranged through top China travel was the best adventures ever throughout the country. Our guides were first rate and unparalleled professionalism was shown in every area of China we visited: Guilin, Beijing, Xian, Shanghai and Hong Kong. We enjoyed every moment of our privately guided tours. Our visit to China was wonderful and we cannot say enough to endorse top China travel as a first-class travel agency. We have returned to our home in Corpus Christi, Texas with wonderful memories to last a lifetime.

We recently returned from a 16 day tour of China. Our holiday was organised by Rebecca Wei who was a pleasure to deal with. We arrived in Beijing and departed from Shanghai. There was lots to organise as we had two internal flights and three train journeys as well as three nights on a boat cruising the Yangtze river. All the arrangments fell into place like clockwork, our guides were excellent, spoke very good english and had a good knowledge of the places we visited. We saw some fantastic sights but some of the highlights for us were The Great Wall, The Yungang Grottoes, The Hanging Temple Datong, The terrracotta warriors and the muslim quarter in Xiang and the cruise on the Yangtze. We travelled in September so the temperatures were around 28C [ fine for us as we live in Durban] it is also a good time as the lines to get enterance to some places were very short. There was a lot of walking involved so comfortable walking shoes are a must as well as a sun hat. We stayed in a couple of "traditional" hotels which we loved and then some very upmarket hotels. The exception was the hotel in Xiang which scored 100% on location but had some very unfriendly staff a poor restaurant as well as putting us in an unrenovated room for the first night. We moved to the renovated floors for the other night which was much better. I should add here that this was a mistake by the hotel not TCT] My one regret is that we should have stayed a night in Wuzhen Water Town but that really was not practical as we had to leave our hotel in Shanghai at 4 in the morning to catch the flight home. We have some wondefull memories so thank you Rebecca and TCT for organizing a really interesting holiday Andrew and Anne B, DurbanSouth Africa

A wonderful experience travelling down the river Li in the mist - fairyland paradise all rolled into one. Our guide Arther was excellent and was able to point out places of interest on the trip. Top China Travel who organised the whole trip were extremely efficient. A must place to visit even if time is limited.

Our family of four just completed a 8 day tour with TCT. Janet helped organize a fantastic itinerary that was flexible and accommodating for our 75 year old mother. We loved the cable car up to the Great wall and Xi'an City wall. Yuyuan Gardens, the trip up the Pearl Tower and all the temples were breathtaking sites. The Capital Hotel in Beijing and Ramada Hotel in Xi'an were very good and the breakfasts diverse and tasty. Every lunch was an taste adventure and we loved the Beijing peking Duck dinner. The guides were very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our guide, Summer, in Xi'an very much. Thank you for an extremely enjoyable and memorable tour! Outstanding!!!

My extended family of 11, ages from 14 to 82, visited Shanghai, Xi'an and Beijing. Lilly was instrumental in helping us planning the family trip. She was always prompt, helpful, and pleasant responding to our endless inquiries. We had Vicky in Shanghai as our guide. She was caring and sincere. Even though dinner was not included in our itinerary, Vicky accompanied us to restaurants so that we wouldn't get lost. When we left Shanghai, all of us missed having Vicky as our guide. Sally in Xi'an was professional. Cathy in Beijing was energetic, funny and caring, and we bonded with her instantly. At the end of our tour, she even took us for shopping after her service was officially over. At the airport, as we hugged each other to bid farewells, I felt as if I was parting with a longtime friend. All 3 guides were extremely accomodating my 82-year-old mother-in-law and assited in hiring a wheelchair for her at each sightseeing site. Because of each member of TCT with their mpeccable service, our family trip was a memorable one. I highly recommend TCT to anyone who is planning a trip to China. Thank you Lilly, Vicky and Chathy. You guys are awesome!!!

We were a party of 9. Four adults and 5 children, varying in ages from 8-13. Travelled to China August 2017. After contacting a number of agents in China for our holiday, Janet from TCT was extremely prompt in her responses whilst trying to finalise our itinerary she was as accommodating as possible. We had a wonderful trip to China. It is one of the most incredible countries with so much culture and history. We were greeted at each destination by a guide and had an air conditioned mini bus ready with a driver at each destination. I would say Ken in Xian and Martin in Shangahai were the better of the four. They all spoke English well they were fun and enthusiastic! My personal highlights In Beijing - were the Great wall of China_ Muttanya section. ( I chose this section to toboggan down the great wall at the end- our guide JOYCE was very cautious and did not allow us to attempt this. I was very disappointed in her lack of adventure! she could have let us adults take the ride! ) However the view whilst on the Great Wall were just breathtaking! Xian- the Muslim area- incredible food and history and The Terracotta army- unimaginable. Our kids especially like the Calligraphy lesson! Guilin- for us was not as good as we expected- partly because it was so hot and we couldn't appreciate nature as much! But it is scenic ! The river cruise was relaxing after days of non stop sightseeing! Shanghai! Its a wonderful city.! Wild! The water villages are a must! Overall, I would say that its essential to have guide in China. All our guides sourced us Halal restaurants so food was never a problem! If I were to visit again- i would pick a cooler time perhaps such as October or April as August was just too hot! I would like to thanks Janet and her team for giving us such wonderful memories in China!
