No doubt, Tibet is a well-known tourist destination in China with abundant historical and natural resources. As located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau at the southwest frontier of China, far from the so called "classic route", for most of people, Tibet is the name leading to a place that filled with mystery, legends and secrets. Tourism is actually a newly developing industry in Tibet as before 1951, there's no related industry in Tibet. But with the progress of the society and economy, since the 80s of last century, Tibet Tourism Industry plays an more and more important role in the development of urban economy, society and culture, etc. During the period, Tibet Tourism achieved a leaping-development and played the leading role. It became the pillar industry in Tibet and it also made great contribution to national tourism industry development through the years.
