Raylene did a wonderful job organizing our tour to meet our time constraints. She answered all questions very efficiently. Our tour guide Rocco met us at the airport and the Driver was waiting near by. I have specific dietary restrictions and the guide was extremely helpful communicating that with the restaurants. The trip was so easy and we always felt safe. My husband and I are looking forward to booking a more extended trip in the future. There is so much to see and the food is wonderful!

If you ever go to Beijing try to have Likun Sun or Li as we called him, as your guide. He is very professional, very knowledgable and also good fun. His English is very good, so no communication problems, and he goes out of his way to make sure you see and do everything you want to. We went to Gubei Water Village, to Simatai Great Wall and on to Chengde, where we visited the Imperial Summer Resort. Li suggested we took the shuttle bus which took us around the huge grounds with several photo stops with fantastic views. An excellent suggestion as there was no way you could have seen so much on foot. Then we visited the Putuo Zongcheng Temple and Quingchui Mountain. Li was able to tell us all about the history of the temple, explaining its origins. From there we drove to Shanhaiguan Area to see the First Pass Under Heaven, Great Wall Museum and where the Great Wall ends/starts in the sea. Again Li was a fount of information. But the thing we really appreciated was being able to find out so much about not only Chinese culture and history but Li told us about everyday life. Unlike many other guides Li had a professional career which involved travel abroad, and when he was forcibly retired at 60 he retrained to become a guide. His previous experience gives him a perspective and depth of experience you don't get with younger guides. He tells you about life in China past and present from personal experience. And best of all he is so very enthusiastic about being your guide, for example, finding out what you like to eat and making sure you get it!

We only had a few days to get a taste of China and we couldn't be happier. We visited Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. In each city our guide had exceptional local knowledge. Our tour was not set in stone with the guides flexible to suit the needs of the group. We not only saw the sites but gained in depth knowledge about them. The drivers were amazing, negotiating the hectic traffic conditions we felt very safe in their care. The guides take a personal interest in their group and look after their every need. I booked the trip over the net and had fantastic communication from start to finish. TCT is great!

I first visited China in 1975, the Canton Fair and have been a regular visitor since. In late 1976 partook in a 3 week Australia China Chamber Commerce of "approved" locations, one being that of Tianjin which was near epicenter Tangshan earthquake, staying in a Russian built colossal hotel, my how China has changed! On all previous trips I had business associates assist with my travel arrangements and this Guilin experience was the first I booked. Having never been to Guilin and always wanting to visit the karst formation mountains, I was surfing and an advertisement for TCT appeared to which I responded and immediately received a positive and informative reply from Lily. Informed her that I would be visiting a number of cities in China with my son on business and from our final city of Hangzhou I would like to visit Guilin and some attractions nearby. Lily immediately came up with a 5 day private tour proposal based on 3 star hotels and including private car transportation. The deal was so appealing I did not consider any alternatives. Arrangements were made solely by internet and whilst I was travelling. When I eventually nailed down the date I was to be in Hangzhou, Lily immediately booked a soft sleeper for the train to Guilin, some 18 hours and arranged for the ticket to be delivered to the Ramada in Hangzhou. In the course of the trip with my son in cities such as Taizhou, Handan, Chongqing, Tonglu and Hangzhou we mentioned my intended solo trip to Guilin and all were amazed that I, a Caucasian foreigner not able to speak Mandarin, would be capable of having a successful trip. Well at my hotel in Hangzhou there was the rail ticket as arranged, no problems to take the new Hangzhou subway to the East Hangzhou train station and on my way, sharing my soft sleeper with 3 Mandarin speaking fellow travelers The train arrived at Guilin station precisely on time, 12.18 and outside the terminal was met by my guide for the duration of my trip, the lovely and most capable 23 year old Yu Ming. She whisked me away to see the local sites of Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill, and Fubo Hill then to book into Universal Guilin Hotel 3*, top location. Yu Ming accompanied me to one of her favourite restaurants which offered live; snake, bamboo rats, various turtle and many fish. I settled on what is known as duck bill fish which is boneless but expensive, about RMBY220 per half kilo, other dishes as little as one tenth this cost. Following day joined hoards of other travelers on a flotilla of boats meandering some 83km downstream on Li Jiang (Jiang = River). The karst mountains are spectacular and the water clear and quite rapid, particularly in shallows. Considerable activity along the river conducted mainly from 12 pole bamboo rafts made of PVC pipe! Have a RMBY20 note with you and take a photograph of the scenery around Xing Ping which appears on the note. Met three fellow travellers,Guandong residents, who heard from Yu Ming we were to ride bicycles on arrival at Yangshuo and although none spoke any English they asked to accompany us when we ride hired bicycles to the Yulong River through the Yangshuo countryside. Off we set through relatively busy traffic but soon into serene countryside, easy riding. On reaching the Yulong we( Yu Ming and myself) hire a 10 bamboo pole raft (genuine bamboo), placed our bikes on the stern with poleman, sat in a pair of chairs and drifted down the Yulong (Dragon) River, going over weirs of more than 1 metre high, meandering through beautiful scenery and karst mountains to, too soon, to land at a banyan tree said to be 1,400 years old. Off loaded bikes and before setting on way to hotel, Ai Yuan 3*, bought from local vendor, a BBQ fish similar to a sardine, which you ate ,including backbone, from the skewer. Back on our bikes to have dinner at one of many local restaurants and then to the second performance for the night of Liu Sanjie, a love story familiar to all Chinese. A cast of over 700 from the Zhuang, Miao and yao minority in a setting of 1.4 hectares ( 3.5 acres) with karst mountains in background, backlit. Spectacular colours and lights, each performance holding 3000 spectators. To avoid queues for buses and taxis we rode a motorbike, 3 up, for total of RMBY10. During breakfast I could hear bursts of staccato which, was to see later, a funeral of a father. All mourners in white and the son and daughter of the deceased father were in long whites. The crackers were exploding and vast quantities of paper money floating everywhere to be quickly cleaned up by following street sweepers. Our driver, Qin caught up with us at 8 in the morning for an early start for the Longji rice terraces and the following day a visit to the Dong minority village, Yanzhai in the Sanjiang region (three rivers). More of that elsewhere My one regret, I did not have an additional day to enjoy the serenity of the Yulong River. I have had no further contact with tour organiser Lily, all is going like clockwork, Yu Ming not only a highly knowledgeable guide but is astutely aware of her charge's preferences, who is more than three times her age. I put this awareness down to the fact that Yu Ming is not only text book tourist taught by The Guilin University of Tourism, but she had recently spent some 8 months at the Epcot Centre in Florida.

My wife (34) and I (35) took a 13-day trip to China during the last two weeks of May organized by Top China Travel. Our tour organizer was Janet Chan with whom we had a very excellent experience. The arrangements were flawless. We did not join a group, all the arrangements were made only for the two of us. We had a guide, a driver and a sedan car in each city. All the internal flights, cruise and train tickets, and any other ground transportation was arranged by TCT. We visited Beijing, Xian, Guilin-Yangshuo, Chongxing-Yangtze River Cruise, and Shanghai. I won't talk too much about the cities since there is plenty of information in the internet. I just can tell that China is amazing. My top favorite sites/monuments/attractions were: The Great Wall (Mutianyu section), Terracotta Warriors, bicycle ride in Yangshuo, bicycle ride in Xian City Wall, cooking lesson in Yangshuo, shopping at Tianzifang and Old Town market in Shanghai and the food EVERYWHERE. The hotel selection by TCT was good, however, depending on needs and tastes, I would recommend to discuss and agree with TCT on specific hotels after doing a little research. Reasons: breakfast selection might not be suitable for everybody (chinese breakfast is very different from occidental breakfast), some hotels might not enforce non-smoking policies hard enough (Novotel Peace in Beijing for example). The Yangtze River cruise was a really nice experience, the landscapes are unique. It's something worth seeing. We took the President #8 Ship, the rooms are clean and comfortable, however, the entertainment activities on board are limited. Overall experience in China was excellent and I definitely recommend Top China Travel as the agency of choice.

We booked our trip with Top China Travel a private tour and was amazing experience. We were 4 people , just ladies. It was very well organized, our Spanish guides in the different cities very good especially Leon in Xian, the best. They were very knowledgeable and took care of us. Every time we went to another city, they didn't leave us until the check-in at the different airports. Our agent Raylene did an excellent job, organizing our trip, she was on top of everything. Thanks Raylene for our unforgettable vacation.

We've been in China this August from 4th to 20th, starting from Beijing and finish in Shanghai, with many transfers through the "tailor made"trip (we've been in Chengde, Pingyao, Xian, Chengdu, Huangshan...). We're very found in Chinese culture and food, so we asked to the travel agency a "not so touristic" tour. We found everything we were looking for! Janet, our correspondent, made everything work wonderfully, with patience and aknowledgement. We really suggest this agency if you want a really Chinese experience with the best quality and price!

With forty years of travel to the far corners of our world we have encountered many guides. Like most travelers some have not been very good, some decent and the rare few that are outstanding. During our three weeks in China last month we encountered just such a rare individual. Our guide in Guilin was a young women named Ping (I'll provide her email later). Ping demonstrated knowledge and command of the history, stories and culture all along the way. Beyond that, Ping exuded infectious enthusiasm not only for our touring, but for us personally as well. We had a serious medical issue occur suddenly, in fact one of us went into diabetic shock. It was four in the morning but no matter, after calling Ping she took command and arranged for the hotel to send us, with a car, driver, and assistant to a hospital. Upon our arrival there was Ping who obviously thru on some clothes, got on her motorbike and rushed to meet us. There she not only served as translator but as though a family member, she became invested in our proper care and recovery. Truly remarkable to have such a person supporting you. In small ways she flavored her guiding with a sense of our interests and preferences, like the day we mentioned our love of pomegranates and the next morning there she is smiling and with samples for us as a treat. When we left a jacket behind, once again was on it as Ping arranged for its shipment to out next stop and tracked it until it was in our hands. Beyond that, Ping was in frequent contact to make certain of our full medical recovery and to offer her help where or whenever it might be needed while in China. Amazing! For my recent trip to China I used 'Top China Travel' to book and arrange for my private tour of three different cities in China; Shanghai, Xi'an, and Dunhuang. In each place I was met by a guide who spoke English and a driver. The agency booked all the accommodation, fights, and an itinerary which included the best tourist attractions in each city and two meals a day. My guides Larry, Miki, and Caroline not only showed me the cultural sites, they also explained the local customs, food and lifestyles. I stayed in great hotels, in fantastic locations in each city. I loved the food, people and saw some amazing sites. the whole trip seamed effortless for me and on my next trip to China I will use this agency to book my tour, I highly recommend Vicky Lu as your travel agent.

We had little time to plan this trip to China and decided a private tour was best for the short time we had available. We really enjoyed the tour 4.5 days in Beijing and 1.5 days in Shanghai. We saw all the highlights, but more importantly our guides talked to us about the people, the culture, the society, etc. We felt very immersed in what we were learning and seeing for those days. The guides were flexible, changing the schedule to accomodate visiting the Great Wall of China on a sunny day. Our hotels were all very nice, and we enjoyed having a driver drop us off right at the entrance to the places we were visiting and picking us up right when we were done. It enabled us to see quite alot in a short amount of time. We enjoyed the one on one contact with our guides (Cathy in Beijing and Sophie in Shanghai.)

A educational tour through the history of the Silk Road, well organised by Janet Chan who was very helpful and easy to communicate with. It is an extensive tour covering great distance-the western border of China - near Afghanistan. There were different tour guides in each area and all were great and some were excellent, Abdul, Shir and Vicky were standouts! as there was little or no English spoken in the western provinces it was necessary to have a guide to explain the sights as well as organise travel and hotel arrangements-also were great in recommending and taking us to great local restaurants. as we are experienced and usually individual travellers we had to suggest that we wanted to see the local areas and sights/people, guides were happy to do so especially in Kashgar where we changed to itinerary from the lake trip to spend time in the markets, teahouses etc -well worth doing as Kashgar and the Uygur people were a highlight of the trip. The tour involved 3 rail, 4 flights and numerous private vehicle trips-all went smoothly although we were not met at one rail station and had to make our own way to the hotel-normally not an issue but at this town there was no-one to speak english so was not a smooth transition. Highlights were off course the big tourist spots of the Beijing , Xian and the incredible terracotta warriors, the Magao grottoes , Labrang Monastery, and the very colourful Zhangye Dana Landform Geological Park, and Dunhuang. We extend our tour spending extra days in Shanghai where we didn't have guides and could be free to get to art galleries etc and then went to Guilin and Yanshuo which were a wonderful and greener change from the western provinces. We were pleased to meet Janet in Guilin. Overall it was a great trip and covered the Silk Road and the rich history that it encompassed, i would suggest less time spent in Urumqi and more tome in Kashgar -there was no need to visa two lakes (we went to the Sacred lake in Urumqi but on reflection would not have that included in the tour. We highly recommend Janet and Top China Travel, but be aware they are a company that has shopping included in Beijing and Xian !

From the 1st point of contact till the end Joyce was great and helped plan a perfect trip which I was for a short time in Beijing. I was traveling alone and was recommended to join a small group of fellow travelers which was perfect. Great tour guide with a clean bus. Pick up on time and overall a great experience.

From the moment we were met at the airport by our friendly and accommodating guide, Eric and our driver, Mr Wong, we knew we were in for a great visit. Both gentlemen made our satisfaction their priority. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits to the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven and the highlight... The Great Wall. It was a fantastic stay !

Rebecca from Top China Travel organized the trip for 4 for 2 weeks. We had a private driver and tour guide in each city. We were met and escorted everywhere from pickup to drop off at train stations or airports. The guides were excellent and generally spoke English well. they were enthusiastic and helpful. We often had them ordering our meals because of language issues. The tour in each city was very good. Unfortunately as someone else has indicated the Oct 1 week is very busy and so you have to time where you go to try to avoid the unbelievable crowds. The travel arrangements whether by train or air were perfect with no hassles or problems. we were always met punctually and there were never any surprises. Meals were excellent in the absolutely amazing hotels which were 5* plus. Getting used to the Chinese food was challenging and so it did take a bit of effort to figure out what our stomachs could handle but we did prefer the local restaurants as opposed to sticking with western food. Our favourite site was Guilin. The landscape and scenery spectacular plus the opportunity to hike and cycle refreshing after the big cities. One must see Shanghai and the warriors but be aware that there are crowds and a lot of traffic so getting anywhere is often longer than expected. Overall I would do the trip again and 2 weeks was certainly a good length of time. The organization and attention to detail was excellent
