Meijiawu Tea Village, also known as Meijiawu Tea Plantation, with a history of more than 600 years, is one of the first-class protected areas and main producing areas of Longjing tea in the West Lake, and has the reputation of Ten Miles of Plum Meijiawu Tea with Tea Fragrance. Meijiawu Village has a long history, beautiful scenery and profound culture. It is one of the most ancient peasant villages and tea culture leisure tourist areas in the suburbs of Hangzhou.
Meijiawu Village is located in the western hinterland of Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area. The villages are distributed along both sides of Meiling South Road, with a length of more than ten miles, and it is known as Ten Miles Meiwu. The village covers an area of 5.6 square kilometers, and consists of old villages(including Zhujiali and Miaowu), new villages(also known as Yunqi Huayuan) and Xiaoyawu.
The whole Meijiawu Tea Village is surrounded by green hills, with white walls and black tiles, gurgling streams and green peaks. There are many scenic spots such as Meiwu Chunzao, Premier Zhou Enlai's memorial room, Qianlong relics, Shili Langdang and Sino-Soviet Friendship Tea Garden. With a long history of profound culture, tea fields and mountains p and streams and ditches passing through the village, Meijiawu Tea Village has a unique style of tea village, which attracts many domestic and foreign tourists every year.
There is a stele pavilion at the entrance of the old village of meijiawu Village, which symbolizes that the scenery of Meijiawu Tea Village "Meiwu Spring Early" was awarded as one of the "Three Comments on Ten Scenes of West Lake". The tablet pavilion is engraved with the inscription "Early Spring in Meiwu". From the way, you can reach the highest Longjing Tea Farm called Sanfengcha in Chinese. The scenery along the way is impressive, and you can take in everything in a glance of the mountains of the West Lake. You can see the terraced Longjing tea gardens and enjoy the whole picture of Meijiawu Tea Village.
From 1957 to 1963, Premier Zhou accompanied foreign guests five times or made a special trip to Meijiawu for inspection and investigation, and took meijiawu Village as one of the contact points to guide rural work throughout the country. In order to commemorate Premier Zhou, in 1991, the villagers of Meijiawu raised funds to build the reception room of the Premier Zhou Enlai Memorial Room. Premier Zhou Enlai Memorial Room is located at No.211, Meijiawu Village, which is in the center of the village. It is a two-story wooden residential building in the late Qing Dynasty, surrounded by osmanthus trees and connected with tea gardens and woodlands. The historical materials, photos and objects of Premier Chen Zhou's visit to Meijiawu are displayed in the memorial hall. Premier Zhou Enlai's Memorial Room bears the gratitude of Meijiawu Village to the older generation of revolutionaries, and is also a symbol of Meijiawu Tea Village's innovation and unremitting struggle.
The south entrance of Langdangling, the most famous climbing resort in Hangzhou, is located in Meijiawu Tea Village. Langdangling is a shortcut connecting Tianzhu, Lingyin, Longjing, Yunqi, Jiuxi, Meijiawu and Wuyun Mountain in the past. Originally, it was a mountain road trodden by devout pilgrims year after year, but now it is a stone-paved, miles-long trail, also known as Shili Langdang. Walking on the ten-mile Langang, you will have wide vision of the undulating mountains and the ancient trees. Shili Langdang is one of the most popular mountain trails in Hangzhou.
Relics of Emperor Qianlong is located in Zhujiali of Meijiawu Village. According to legend, Emperor Qianlong visited Zhujiali in Meijiawu Tea Village privately, and met a peasant woman who was delivering food in the field in Sanliting, Yunqi. Knowing that Emperor Qianlong and his accompanies were hungry, the peasant woman invited them to her home for dinner with her after the meal was delivered. After enjoying a delicious farmhouse meal, when Emperor Qianlong ordered his entourage to pay, the peasant woman insisted on not accepting it. Emperor Qianlong felt that Meijiawu Tea Village was not only beautiful, but also very friendly and warm-hearted, so he rewarded the villagers with a gold plaque(destroyed by the war during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom) and eighteen loquats(carrying poles with hooks). And Meijiawu Tea Village became the symbols of hardworking, pure, friendly and hospitable. Walking on the stone road in Zhujiali, bamboo forests become interesting, and the walls are covered with white tiles, which seems to be a dialogue with the ancient people, which is quite interesting.
There is a tea garden next to the villager’s committee of Meijiawu Tea Village, which is a symbol of the friendship between China and the Soviet Union. On April 26th, 1957, Premier Zhou accompanied voroshilov, Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union, and his party to visit the meijiawu Tea Village. While visiting the tea garden, he met the villagers who were busy picking tea. Among them, the little girl's agile movements attracted Premier Zhou and his party, and Premier Zhou learned to pick tea with her posture. voroshilov was infected by the joyful atmosphere of Premier Zhou and the little girl's tea picking competition, and she also readily picked tea. Later, the tea tree picked by voroshilov and Premier Zhou was praised as Sino-Soviet Friendship Tea Tree. Nowadays, when many people visit meijiawu, they have to come to see this tea tree.
There are many sequoia trees alongside theMeiling South Road of Meijiawu Tea Village, and the Meiling South Road are also called Sequoia Avenue. And the Meiwu Stream passing through the Meijiawu Tea Village is also not to be missed. The Sequoia Avenue in spring and summer are lush and green. If you want to see the red sequoias, you have to wait until late autumn. The water of Meiwu Steam is clear, and many tourists come here to take pictures. Please pay attention to your safety while visiting the Meiwu Stream.
