Best Places to Visit in Anshun

Located in the boarder area of Zhenning County and Guanling County, Huangguoshu Waterfall is known as "the first waterfall in China", with the most impressive having a width of 81 meter and dropping 74 meter.

Like the Milky Way descending from the heaven, the Huangguoshu Waterfall rushes into the Xiniu pond, sending foams up by 100 meters, and roars can be heard kilometers away. With typical karst topography, the area around the Huangguoshu Waterfall boasts a cluster of fascinatin water-eroded caves.

 

The best place is Little Moon Stage (Xiao Yue Tai) behind Water-Curtain Cave (Shui Lian Dong) where you could see it, touch it and enjoy it. Between nine o'clock to eleven o'clock every morning in clear days, you may see a rainbow, sometimes you may see two.

 

Tianlong Village is one of these ancient Tun-Bao settlements built during the reign of Emperor Hongwu by the descendants of the soldiers of the expeditionary troops of the Ming Dynasty, where locals still wear the old-style clothes of that time and keep most of the cultural traditions of the Ming Dynasty. This shows the Han's early migration from Central China to this mountainous area. You can see a similar life style to that of Central China. Moreover, you could enjoy a Chinese traditional local opera called 'Dixi' which is only found in Guizhou as your optional choice.

Historic records tell the story about the village. The imperial court of the Ming Dynasty had sent a garrison force to Anshun six hundred years ago. The garrison turned the neighborhood into farmland, grew crops, and build up villages for its own needs. The Tianlong Village is the best among the well-kept settlements, where people have changed little in lifestyle.

It is also why it is named Dragon Palace. With its grotesque structure, the Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Area presents colorful scenery of underground wind tunnel which can be toured by boat.

 

Tianxingqiao Scenic Resort is located six kilometers away from Huangguoshu Waterfall. The most distinguished character of the scenic resort is its abundance in water, rocks, forests and caves, which compose a picturesque view for the visitors. It was among the first group of the national places of scenic and historic interest approved by the state.

The beautiful scenery has attracted many tourists and it was one of the shooting sites of a famous Chinese TV "Pilgrimage to the West".
 

Anshun Ancient City

South to Zhonghua East Road, north to Anshun No.1 Middle School, east to Hongshanhu Road and west to Zhonghua North Road, Anshun Ancient City was built in Ming Dynasty(1381), which is located in the center of the city. There are 151 historical building in the Ancient Ancient City. At Anshun Ancient City, you can see rivers, temples, traditional buildings and stores. At day, you can stroll around the ancient city and taste the local cuisines. At night, you can enjoy the night view of the ancient city.
 

Best Time to Visit Anshun

The best time to visit Anshun will depend on your preference. If you want to visit the Huangguoshu Waterfall, it is recommended that you visit Anshun from June to August, when is the high flow period of the waterfall. If you plan to visit Dragon Palace, it is recommended that you visit Anshun from April to October with comfortable weather.

If you only have one day in Anshun, you can choose to visit Huangguoshu Waterfall or Dragon Palace. And if you want to visit both of these two attractions in a day, it will be a little hurry. To better experience the beauty of Huangguoshu Waterfall and Dragon Palace Scenic Area, it is recommended that you leave one day for each attraction.
