Flight from Shigatse to Chengdu

About Shigatse: Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet. It has high-quality tourism resources such as, Mount Everest, Tashilhunpo Monastery and Sakya Monastery that reflects heavy Tibetan culture. But Shigatse is a place that has an average elevation of 3836 meters, if tourists from plain city, suggesting tourists to do some prevention measures. Shigatse is located in the southwest border of China, southwest of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, west connects to Ngari Prefecture, north close to Naqu, east near Lhasa and Shannan region, bordering countries such as Nepal, Bhutan in the outer, and borderline is 1753 km long.

 

 

About Chengdu: As the capital city of Sichuan Province, Chengdu is the provincial center of politics, economy, culture, education, technology, transportation and commerce. Chengdu is an ancient city with rich historical and cultural landscapes and also the lovely Giant Panda’s home town.


 

Air

There is only one direct flight from Shigatse Heping Airport that is the flight between Shigatse and Chengdu, so tourists from other place could choose to transfer to Chengdu to take flight to Shigatse or take flight to Lhasa Gonggar Airport first and then take bus from Lhasa to Shigatse or take regular bus from the Lhasa Gonggar airport directly to Shigatse. The distance from Gonggar Airport o Shigatse is about 400km, taking about 4 hrs.

•Domestic Travel High Season
The most crowded seasons in China are Chinese Spring Festival (usually in late Jan or early Feb.), International Labor Day (May 01 to 03) and National Day (Oct 01-07). Spring Festival and the National Day golden week are the most crowded time for travelling.

Best Time to Visit Chengdu:
Best time to visit Chengdu is in spring and autumn, especially from March to June and from September to November. The weather hill is warm and wet all year. Chengdu has early Spring, hot Summer, cool Autumn and relatively warm Winter. As it is in the Sichuan Basin, it is very misty all yea. The hottest months in Chengdu are July and August. 
 
Best Time to Visit Shigatse:
Shigatse area is full with sufficient sunshine, mild climate, the weather here and tourism facilities are good, so tourists can see the beautiful scenery here at any time. But if you want to go to Mount Everest for expedition, from October to next year April is not suitable for travel because of the cold weather; and in July and August is the rainy season, in the misty rainy day you also can’t see Mount Everest.
