Nyingchi Transport

Nyingchi is one of the world's last pure lands which is rarely involved by mankind. It is the holy land for scientific investigation and expedition.

Air
Nyingchi Milin Airport is the airport with lowest altitude (2949 m) in Tibet, but it is the most difficult airport for flying in China. It is the third civilian airport in Tibet. The airport started construction in 2003, and was officially opened to traffic in the end of 2005.
 
There flights between Chengdu and Nyingchi. Now, there are only 3 airplane and 6 pilots could fly this line. There is one round-trip flight on every Friday.
 
Or you can fly to Lhasa first and then take bus to Nyingchi.
 
Highway
From Lhasa to Nyingchi, the scenery is very beautiful with many attractions. It is an important travel route in Tibet.
 
Lhasa - Nyingchi Highway is also the Lhasa section of State Road 318 and one of the best section of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. Sichuan-Tibet Highway is an important channel to Tibet, mainly freight transport, especially military transport very busy.
 
Currently, traveling to Nyingchi, bus is the main transport means. Some places even do not have roads and you had to hiking. Lhasa to Nyingchi shuttle bus departs at 8:00 a.m.. Lhasa to Bayi Town in Nyingchi is 633 km, and the fare is 155 yuan, via Mozhugongka and Gongbujiangda

Nyingchi – Ranwu, distance: 345 km, passing Tongmai, Bomi
Tsetang – Nyingchi, distance: 475 km, via Jiacha, Milin
 
Attraction Transport
From Nyingchi to Basum Lake and other attractions, you can rent jeep at Bayi Town, which can sit 6 people, 700 Yuan for 2 days.
 
The tour in Nyingchi can be designed as: take bus from Bomi to Bayi Town, than from Bayi Town to Paillong; Hiking from Pailong to Zaqu to see the U-turn of the Yarlung Zangbo River and the word’s deepest cayon; from Zaqu to Pailong, visiting Moinba Village, appreciating origin forest; drive from Pailong to Milin and then from Milin to Jaicha.
 
Tips:
It is recommended to charter a jeep. The scenery on this line is very beautiful. Regular bus could not stop in middle way, and will miss lots of beautiful sceneries.
