Ngari is located at west Tibet. There are major traffic arteries such as Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, Guoshi Highway, Anshi Highway and Lapu Highway. However, as the high elevations, harsh natural conditions, the road is often interrupted due to weather changes. The best time for driving is only the month of July and August, the traffic is very inconvenient. The capital is located in Shiquanhe Town. The city is not large, basically no long-distance buses. However it is the new transportation hub. The mail car, goods stock and military vehicles become the most convenient means of transport.
The distances between Ngari and Lhasa, Ngari and Karghalik are all over 1000 km, and along the road, there are grassland, desert, swamp and large area of no man's land. The road condition is bad, and the oil plants and food are no guarantee. The whole journey is very hard.

Roads
In Ngari Prefecrture, now, there is only one company operates the regular bus between Lhasa and Shiquanhe Town. The departure time is not fixed. There are 2 regular buses in peak season, the driving time is 3 days 2 nights, and the fare is about 650 to 750 Yuan.
Charted bus is also a good choice, but the fare is high. The truck is about 6000 Yuan, and SUV charges for 12000 Yuan. As the road is not good, and lots of no man’s areas, no signs, it is not recommended to self-drive here.
The most economic and safest way of travel to Ngari is waiting the mail car, goods stocks or military vehicles. If you want to go to Xinjiang from Ngari, you can take the goods van to Xinjiang, pay for 300 to 400 Yuan, then you can seat in the cab. It takes about 3 days to Karghalik in Xinjiang. In the morning, you can take military vehicles, and you need to pay 200 t 300 Yuan. The military vehicle drives slowly but the price is low and very safe.
From Ngari to Lhasa, the south line could appreciate lots of famous local attractions, but long-distance buses seldom choose this line. It is the first choice of travel agency and self-driving.

Shiquanhe Town’s taxi only drives in downtown, charges for 5 to 10 Yuan.
Chartered Car
The most convenient is to charter bus, the price is about 600 to 800 Yuan/Day. In addition, there are regular buses between counties, about 2 day one bus, the time is not fixed.
