Houses and buildings in Chongqing are built against mountains. The buildings are cascading ups and downs. The best sites to see Chongqing city night view includes Hongyadong, Jiefangbei Business District, Yangtze River Cableway, on the viewing deck of Nanshan Hill, Kansheng Pavilion (also known as Liangjiang pavilion) in Eling Park, Chaotianmen Square, etc.
♦ Taking a cruise: It is a classic tour to enjoy the night view of Chongqing on the both sides of Jialing River and Yangtze River. The cruise ships are classified into deluxe or ordinary ones, and meals included and meals excluded. You may choose the one according to your need and budget. The regular routine of the cruises starts from Chaotianmen Dock and ends at Jialing River Bridge, and then return. Passengers will be able to see Hongyadong, Chongqing Grand Theatre, The Jiefangbei, etc.
♦ Hongyadong: Here is the most famous Diaojiao building complex (stilted building). This is one of most classical sites to admire the night view. It is suggested to go there after 8:00pm and go to the sidewalk across the street at the bottom of it to have an overall view of Hongyadong Building complex, as you are not able to take panoramic photography inside. Here have many souvenir stores, coffee shops, bars and restaurants. You can enjoy your meals and drink here while enjoying the landscape. You may walk from Jiefangbei for about 1 kilometer to reach Hongyadong, very closed.
♦ Nanshan Yi Ke Shu sightseeing platform: It is located on Nanshan Hill in the south of Chongqing city. On the viewing platform here have get an overall view of the city, which make it one of the best places to watch the night view of this city. You may take Public Bus route 346, 347, 384 to Sizhong Station(四中站), then walk back for 5 to 10 minutes to reach there.
♦ Eling Park: A civil park in the centre of the city. It is sited on the highest places of Chongqing peninsula. This park is quite large with rows of trees. The Kansheng Pavilion(also known as Liangjian Tower in Eling Park) is the highest point in the park, as well as the best place to overlook Chongqing city and the two rivers (Yangtze River and Jialing River). If you are coming in the day, you can see many old people playing cards and drinking tea in the park.
How can the rich nightlife in Chongqing miss bar hopping? Pubs/bars in Chongqing are basically concentrated in Yuzhong district, especially near Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street. In addition, The three Gorges Square in Shapingba District, Graffito Street at Huangjueping, Keyuan 4th Road and South Garden at Longxi Town of Chongqing also has various pubs, bars and clubs. And the price in these places is much cheaper than that in Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street.
After a tired trip during the day, you may want to treat yourself well with a nice dinner. You can miss try some local food, such Chongqing Hot Pot, Hot and Sour Rice Noodles, Chongqing noodles, Meat Dumplings in Spicy Sauce, Poached Fish in Chili Oil, etc. These are all classic food in Chongqing.
