Top China Travel is the the tops! I booked an 21 day tour of China for my husband and I and from the very first contact with Lily Lui I was totally impressed. We communicated via e-mail and Lily was very quick and helpful with her responses. Because this was not our first trip to China, I wanted an itinerary that was different from the norm. Lily's recommendations were top notch. The hotels she used were top shelf as we requested. Our guides and drivers were fantastic. What impressed me the most was that when we were in China, Lily called to speak to me and make sure everything was going well. When I ran into some issues due to altitude sickness, I contacted her and she had the itinerary changes done and finalized within an hour. This was a private tour with guide and driver and I honestly can say there was not one thing I wished we had done differently. Thanks to Top China Travel and Lily our trip to China was perfect. I will definitely be contacting Lily when we return to China for yet another visit.

I have been to Xi'an before with a larger group so this time booking with only 3 friends made it very enjoyable and a more personable experience for each of us. The cost was reasonable and made the whole time worry free. The restaurant that was recommended by our tour guide Maggie was of excellent quality and fair price. Maggie's english was very good, and knowledge of sites we visited was also very good. The booking agent Janet took care of the logistics of every detail of the trip; she was available to assist us outside of regular working hours and became our translator at the train station when we were having difficulty communicating what we needed.

From the minute I contacted Vicky at Top China Travel to book our holiday, to the time we were taken to Pudong airport for our flight home, the experience was perfect. My wife and I visited Beijing, Xian and Shanghai and all of our tour guides were fluent in English, very knowledgeable and very friendly. Thank you Vicky and all at TCT and I will definitely be in contact when I return to China.

I did this tour with my wife and our adult son in early February - in fact it was Chinese New Year's eve day. We enjoyed it. We did the three star version and were impressed with how easy the guide on the tour bus made it for us. She was attentive and her English was great. The three star boats are remarkably comfortable. We were expecting wooden benches, but the cabin was carpeted, well appointed, and very comfortable. We spent much of the trip on the deck looking at the scenery of the Karst Mountain Formations, which was pretty incredible. At the end of the trip, our guide offered another smaller river cruise that included a cave, but we chose to go off on our own. We rented scooters and had fund going out to see the huge Banyan tree outside of town. Our guide had given us clear instructions on how to find the hotel where the bus picked us up on time for a drive of a couple of hours back to Guilin.

We were looking for a tour in SW China while in the area for work and found this one. While we wouldn't normally get a private tour but surprisingly it was actually cheaper than most of the group tours in the area and was great value. While I would usually rather keep one guide for the whole tour, as you get to know each other and they get to know what you are interested in, we changed guides 5 times during this trip (fortunately we had the same guide in Kunming at the start and end of the tour which was a real bonus as Murphy, our Kunming based guide, was excellent.) In this case changing guides had the advantage of local knowledge at each site so compensated for the change. Of the 4 guides we had 3 excellent and 1 very good with each of them working hard to look after us and make sure we enjoyed our trip. Vicky, our Dali based guide was also extremely good making our time there a highlight. The tour gives you 2 days at each base ie travel in the morning, have the afternoon and the next day touring the area then drive to the next base. We chose the driving tour as we feel it gives you a better experience of the area and you get to see the locals in action. All the drivers we had were great - they went out of their way to look after us and were very safe, which is saying something for driving in China. While all of the guides were very fluent in English none of the drivers could speak English which was a slight disadvantage as you didn't have the guides with you when traveling between bases but the friendliness and helpfulness of the drivers more than made up for this. The tour was very well organised and we knew what we were doing from the time we met our guide on arrival at the Kunming railway station to when we walked through security at the airport on our way out. The tour comes with 4,5 and 6 star accommodation choices and we went for the cheapest 4 star option. While the English at the hotels was limited the guides made sure we were checked in and out and took care of any issues (which were minimal). The 4 star option is largely "Chinese style" hotels ie designed for Chinese visitors with breakfast consisting of what many westeners would consider dinner style food but there was always eggs and toast for the less adventurous. The hotels were all clean and comfortable and generally very well located. The Hotel in Kunming (Jin Jang Inn) was a bonus as it seemed higher than 4 star and we stayed there both on our way in and out. As well as breakfast, lunch came with the tour which was enjoyable as the guides choose the restaurants so we got a variety. I got the feeling that most of the restaurants were owned by friends or family or there was some arrangement with the guide, but as you get to formally review each guide and the meals at the end of each stop they work hard to make sure you enjoy the meal and there was always an abundance of food. We tried a range of local cuisine and there was only one meal we didn't think was up to par. You get your own dinner which also suited us as there is invariably a range of restaurants or for the more adventurous there is the street vendors and you can choose what you want. The vehicles we were driven in were all very good- plenty of space and very comfortable. Being a private tour, while there was a set itinerary, which was diverse and very interesting with something for most people, the guides could tweak it to suit individual interests eg more time at one site and less at another. It is easy to get a bit templed out but overall the itinerary was a good mic of nature and culture. I would thoroughly recommend the tour and the company and we will be looking to the company if/when we go back - Guilin is next on the list as the guides were very happy to discus what they thought we would and wouldn't enjoy based on working with us on this tour,

We only had a few days to get a taste of China and we couldn't be happier. We visited Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. In each city our guide had exceptional local knowledge. Our tour was not set in stone with the guides flexible to suit the needs of the group. We not only saw the sites but gained in depth knowledge about them. The drivers were amazing, negotiating the hectic traffic conditions we felt very safe in their care. The guides take a personal interest in their group and look after their every need. I booked the trip over the net and had fantastic communication from start to finish. TCT is great!

It has been a wonderful private tour with TCT visiting Hong Kong, Guilin, Yangshuo, Xian, Bejing. We were promptly received at every airport and train station and warmly welcomed by all of the tour guides and also brought to our departure flights and trains always on time with warm and friendly smiles. This team (Billy, Summer, Eric) is very responsible which is very comforting for a traveller. Billy (Guilin/Yangshuo), Summer (Xian) and Eric (Bejing) are very knowledgeable about these cities and towns, and, easily provide the historical and traditional context of things which provided us deep understanding and clarity to our perspectives. We really enjoyed the Four Lakes cruise (Guilin), dinner in Yangshuo West Street, the performance impressions of Liu Sanjie (Yangshuo), Imperial show and Dumpling Banquet (Xian), dinner in the Houhai lake (Bejing), Peking Roast Duck at Quanjude Restaurant. At every location where we ate this team (Billy, Summer, Eric) ensured that our food preferences were taken care of even when it meant some last minute changes to the menu. Great flexibility. Strongly recommend these apart from visiting all the cultural and historical sites. Outstanding planning by Bonnie and immaculate execution by Billy, Summer, Eric made this a wonderful and memorable trip. Thank you guys and girls of TCT.

The 6 day Guilin tour had been very well designed with the help of M/s Raylene He, adviser of TCT. All the time had been fully filled and extremely enjoyable, visiting special, beautiful and interesting cultural, historical and scenic places. The tour general service had been very good, specially with the professionalism of the English speaking tourist guide M/s Tang Yong Hong. I would express my appreciation for these two excellent professionals for the good time provided with this tour.

We did a private tour of Beijing and the Mutianyu portion of the Great Wall in October. The company seamlessly put together the tour for us (graciously making changes to accommodate our preferences) without any problems. All the staff I dealt with (Joyce as the organizer and Sisi as the tour guide) was absolutely fantastic. Very kind and knowledgeable people who goes out of their way to make suggestions to ensure the most amazing experience you could possibly have. I wholeheartedly recommend this company for anyone wanting to travel to China. Truly an amazing company!

We still can't believe that we've spent 11 days of dream in China, organized for us by TCT Guilin. The pick ups at the different airports went without a hitch. our guides were warm and so friendly, although a few were quite busy with their IPhone. The hotels recommended were outstanding. The breakfast at The Marriott were excellent. The terra cotta army in Xian is a marvel. The dumpling banquet in Xian was somewhat below our expectations though. The cruise on the Yang Tse river, a once in a lifetime experience though a bit too short. Don t hesitate to upgrade to the suite on the Victoria cruises (Victoria Selena), you won't regret it, a panoramic view of breath taking intensity....quite interesting shore excursions, they are worth the money. We would hesitate one second to book another and longer trip with TCT Guilin.
