Ethnic Villages in Longji

Ethnic Villages in Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area such as Pingan Zhuang Village, Jinzhu Zhuang Village, Huangluo Yao Village, Longji Ancient Zhuang Village and other villages are very worth for a visit. 

Pingan Zhuang Village

 now has 170 families, with a population of over 700. They all Zhuang people and "Liao”is the family name of them.

 

Pingan Rice Terraces’s highest altitude is 880 m, and the lowest is 380 m, with vertical elevation difference of 500 m, covering an area of over 4 square km. The terraces like ribbons or chains wreathe from the foot to the top of the mountain. There are two unique scenic spots: Seven Stars around the Moon, Nice Dragons and Five Tigers

 

Seven Stars around the Moon is the scream of Longji Rice Terraces. It is formed by 7 small summits with one large summit. The whole mountain is full of narrow rice terraces. It is famous for that most of the tourists and photographers will come here. At the No. 1 or 2 view points in Longji, you can see the scene of Seven Stars around the Moon

Nice Dragons and Five Tigers is also located at the Pingan Rice Terraces, which is also very famous. The nine dragons indicate the 9 ridges of mountains, and the 5 tigers indicate the 5 small hill top.

Jinzhu Zhuang Village

Jinzhu Zhuang Village is famous for its golden bamboo forest. It is the first village of the Longji 13 villages. It is one of the typical Zhuang Villages in China and is known as “the First North Zhuang Village”. Here you can watch simple and unsophisticated Zhuang ethnic folk dance such as the Shoulder Pole Dance for harvest celebration, Shigong Dance, Zhubang Dance and so on. You can also listen to beautiful folk songs and eat Zhuang folk food.

Huangluo Yao Village

Huangluo Yao Village is located at the river bank of Jinjiang River. There lives the Hong Yao people. There are about 60 families with a population of 400. The women here are with long black hair. It is not surprise to see they wear the hair as long as the height of them. The longest hair here is 1.81m. The village also got the Long Hair Certification gave by Guinness Headquarters.

 

The Yao girls with beautiful folk costumes will sing to welcome you when you get to the Huangluo Yao Village. They will dance the Changgu Dance, Shouling Dance for you. Here you can also taste the oil tea of Yao people. A small river passes through the village, and there are 2 iron chain bridges. There is a Groom Selection activity which all the male villagers or tourists could join in.

 

The costume of Hong Yao women is very beautiful and particular. A suit of the costume will take about 3 year for hand embroidery.

Longji Ancient Zhuang Village

As the altitude is about 600m here, the buildings in the village reflected by the water, cloud and mist surrounded, Longji Ancient Zhuang Village just looks like the Heaven Palace. The architecture here is very ancient. Some of them have a history of hundreds of years, and are still preserved very well. Here you can not only appreciate the most original Zhuang architecture style, when walking on the paved roads you can also see many places of interest such as the stone bridge, Longquan Pavilion, Kangxi Barracks Sits and so on.
