Turpan is a city in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, on the Silk Road. It is about 150 km southeast of Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang.
Visitors can travel from Turpan to Urumqi either by train or by bus.
There are a lot o f trains traveling between Urumqi and Turpan every day and the journey takes about 1 hour and a half to 2 hours, depending on different trains.
To be noticed that Turpan Train Station is located in Daheyan County, 50 kilometer away from Turpan downtown. You can take public bus or taxi to get to the train station if you are in downtown Turpan.
There are a lot of buses leaving for Urumqi every day. It sets off at Turpan Bus Station and takes about 2 hours to take you to Urumqi Bus Station.
