Red Leaves Ridge Scenic Area in Beijing

Red Leaves Ridge Scenic Area covers acres of areas nearby the wild Great Wall in Badaling National Forest Park, including more than 50,000 Cotinus coggygria trees growing there. The National Forest Park is located between Badaling Great Wall and Juyongguan Great Wall.


The best time to watch the red leaves at Badaling wild great wall is from the end of September to the end of October each year. At that time, you could walk through the red leaves and stroll along the wild great wall. This is the only place where you could view red leaves earliest in Beijing. If you happen to visit Beijing in Autumn, you could try to visit it after your visit to Badaling Great Wall. If you like photography, it might need around 3-4 hour here.


Red Leaves Ridge includes Red Leaves Ridge Scenic Area, Qinglonggu Scenic Area, Dingxianggu Scenic Area and Shixia Scenic Area. The temperature in the park is around 5℃ lower than that in the downtown of Beijing all the year round due to the high altitude, the lush forest and the shield of ancient great wall. This is a place where Spring leaves latest, coolest in summer, most beautiful and colorful in Autumn in Beijing.



How to get to Red Leaves Ridge Scenic Area from Beijing downtown?
► Self-drive: It needs around 45-60 minutes from Beijing downtown to Red Leaves Ridge, if you drive on your own. Get out of Beijing and drive along the Beijing-Tibet highway. It needs only 45 minutes to reach the scenic area.

► Mass transit:
Bus No 877
Deshengmen to the parking lot in front of Badaling (The 1st bus at 07:00 and the last bus at 12:00)
The parking lot in front of Badaling to Deshengmen (The 1st bus at 11:30 and the last bus at 16:30)

Bus No 877 Deshengmen-Badaling Tourist Bus Line
Deshengmen-Badaling (The 1st bus at 06:30 and the last bus at 12:00)
Badaling-Deshengmen (The 1st bus at 12:00 and the last bus at 16:00)

Note: When you get off from Bus No 877 Tourist Bus Line at the last stop, you will need to walk to Red Leaves Ridge Scenic Area for around 15 minutes.
