The terraces in this scenic area, including Duoyishu, Aichun, and Dawazhe, are more than 6.7 square kilometers (1647.4 acres) in total. When the sun rises, the changing colors of the water surface are dizzying, and the villages are looming, which make the whole Duoyishu Scenic Area a wonderland.

Best Place to Photograph the Sunset

Bada Scenic Area

Bada Scenic Area is the best place to shoot the Hani ethnic villages, sunset and sea of clouds views. The terraces start from the Malizhai River at an altitude of 800 meters, and continuously stretch tens of thousands of terraces to the top of a mountain at an altitude of 2,000 meters. More than 3,700 terraces resemble a ladder, reaching the sky. As the sun sets, the terraces change colors constantly, firstly they are pink, and then turn to red, later to white.

Laohuzui Scenic Area

Laohuzui Scenic Area is said to have the most spectacular layout, the steepest terrain and the largest area among all rice terraces in Yuanyang. Laohuzui Scenic Area is located in the core area of Yuanyang Rice Terraces. It got its name because of a stone protruding from the nearby cliff, which looks like the mouth of a tiger. The rice terraces there are scattered among the deep valleys. More than 3,000 acres of terraces have different shapes winding around the slopes. As the sun sets slowly, the rice terraces change into a variety of wonderful scenes.
