Top Things to Do

Soak in the Hot Spring
The highlight of South Hot Spring Park is, of course, bathing in the hot springs. Known as the “First Spring of Yuzhou,” South Hot Spring maintains a steady temperature of around 41℃ all year round. The water belongs to the calcium–magnesium–sodium sulfate type and is rich in minerals, making it both relaxing and therapeutic. Visitors can soak in the pools while enjoying the surrounding natural scenery and the restorative benefits of the spring.

Relax in the Scenic Landscape
The park is embraced by verdant mountains with a forest coverage rate of 95%. The Huaxi River winds through the park, forming the famous “Twelve Sights of South Spring,” such as Nantang Spring Pool, Tiger Roar Waterfall, Sheer Cliff Flying Spring, and Fairy Rock. With mountains, rivers, forests, springs, caves, and waterfalls blending together, the park resembles a living Chinese landscape painting. Visitors can stroll along the Huaxi River, admire the scenery, or even enjoy rafting during the summer. At the heart of the river lies Hexin Island, a charming islet with shallow streams, waterfalls, colorful flowers, and playful spaces, making it an ideal place for children to splash and play.

Hiking on Featured Trails
The park is also home to several scenic hiking trails. The Jianwen Trail, leading up to Jianwen Peak, is shaded by lush trees and filled with the refreshing scent of pine. The negative oxygen ion concentration here reaches up to 5,000 per cubic centimeter, making it one of Chongqing’s rare wellness trails. The Heshang Mountain Trail, stretching 4,300 meters, is steep and rugged, often referred to as the “Little Huashan” by hikers. It is also one of the best spots for birdwatching, especially to observe raptors.

Ride the Cableway and Slide Downhill
