Gurla Mandhata, or Naimona'nyi Peak(纳木那尼峰) is located in Burang County, facing the crystal-clear and white snow-capped Mt. Kailash in the north across the pure Lake Manasarovar and demon Lake Rakshastal. Being 7,694-meter high, the peak is one of the highest peaks in the Himalayas. Best time to visit is from May to late June. Naimona'nyi means "the Mountain of Goddess" in Tibetan language.
Naimona'nyi Peak has an area of 200 square kilometers and has 6 mountain ridges, on which are tens of mountains soaring to 6,000 meters. The western ridges fan out from north to south. The only ridge in the east has been corroded into a blade-shape ridge, which is very steep with a height difference of 2,000 meters. Compared with the eastern ridge, the western one has a less steep gradient. Five huge glaciers pour down in the canyon, among which are ice steeps full of cracks.
May to late June is the best tourist time for the Naimona'nyi Peak. The weather is fine most of the time, and sometimes, good weather may last for six to eight days.
On the vast Tibet Plateau, Mount Namunani is at the opposite of the Mount Kailash with the Lake Manasarovar. It is the highest peak in the western part of the Himalayas. With its unique location and mysterious legend, Namunani Peak has become a sacred place in the hearts of local people and is honored as the fifth goddess of the Himalayas. National Highway 219
Driving on the National Highway 219, you can see the grasslands, the mountains, the Namunani in the distance, the blue sky and the white clouds, which are attractive and beautiful.
Tarqin Town
Tarqin Town is located near the National Highway 219. At the morning, you may have the chance to see the stunning sunrise of the Namunani Peak at the Tarqin Town.

Walking around the Lhanagtso Lake, you can see the Namunani Peak in the distance. You can see the prayer stones and the beautiful color of the Lhanagtso Lake. You can get wonderful photos with the lake, mountains, blue sky and the Namunani Peak.
Lake Manasarovar Viewing Platform
Standing on the Lake Manasarovar Viewing Platform, you can have a panoramic view of the Lake Manasarovar. And Namunani Peak is to the south of the Lake Manasarovar. In the afternoon, when the sunset lights the Namunani Peak, the snow peaks turn golden or red, which is breathtaking and beautiful.
And when you walk around the Lake Manasarovar, you can see the Namunani Peak at different angles. You can see the wonderful picture of snow mountains, lake, grasslands and the blue sky. You can feel the vastness of the grasslands and the purity of the snow peaks.
In summer, the summit of the Namunani Peak is like a fairyland in the clouds and mist. The Namunani Peak in autumn is even more colorful with the golden vegetation and the white snow peaks complementing each other, forming a beautiful picture. In winter, Mount Namunani is covered with a thick layer of snow and becomes a world of ice and snow.
Mount Kailash
The best time to photograph the Mount Kailash is morning to afternoon. If you are lucky, you can photograph the stunning sunrise or sunset at the Mount Kailash. Driving on the National Highway 219, you can catch the Mount Kailash and Nanumani Peak at the same time.
Lake Manasarovar
To drive around the Lake Manasarovar, you need about 4hours. And if you choose hiking, it needs about 3-4 days.
Namunani Peak
The best time to photograph the Namunani Peak is from 9:00 to 17:00 with nice sunlight. On the National Highway 219 and by the Lake Manasarovar Viewing, you can enjoy the scene of the Namunani Peak clearly. The best place to catch the sunrise of the Namunani Peak is the by the Lake Manasarovar at the foot of the Qiwu Temple.
