Kuixing Building in Chongqing, where the ground floor is also the 22nd floor. This makes you always unsure which horizon you are standing on, as if you have traveled through time. Kuixing Pavilion is also where the famous YouTuber known as "Speed" films his livestreams.
There are two pedestrian bridges here, perfect for check-in photos. Standing on the bridge and pointing your camera downward, you can capture the steep, vertical angle of the road below, creating an abyss-like illusion. This spot has become a must-visit for travelers to experience Chongqing’s magical charm.
1. Kuixing Pavilion Main Building
The main structure of Kuixing Pavilion is richly colored, with golden tiles, bright red columns, and vivid blue artwork, all showcasing traditional Chinese aesthetics and strong local culture. From the square, you can capture the striking contrast of classical pavilions set against a backdrop of high-rise buildings.
2. Iron Chain Footbridge
The iron footbridge offers a thrilling photo opportunity. Standing on the bridge, you can take a vertical shot straight down to the road below, with the high-rise buildings flanking both sides—an immersive way to experience Chongqing's layered urban landscape.
Tip: If you're afraid of heights, be cautious and hold onto the handrails.
3. Totoro Wall Mural
After crossing the bridge and taking the elevator down from Gaosheng Wealth Center, you’ll reach a parking lot where the beloved Totoro wall mural awaits. In addition to Totoro, there are several other cute and colorful graffiti works that are perfect for photos.
Take Chongqing Metro Line 2 and get off at Linjiangmen Station 临江门站 (Exit 2). From there, it’s about a 5-minute walk.
The best time to visit Kuixing Building is in the late afternoon, especially around sunset and into the evening. While it’s open year-round, the cooler seasons—autumn, winter, and spring—offer the most comfortable weather for exploring, whether during the day or night. Summer, particularly from May to August, tends to be hot and humid, so it's best to avoid daytime sightseeing during these months. In the evening, however, the heat fades and the pavilion light up beautifully, creating a stunning cyberpunk atmosphere with the glowing skyline in the background. Watching the sunset and then enjoying the illuminated night view is a double delight for any visitor.
Kuixing Pavilion is only 540 meters away from Jiefangbei, making it a perfect stop to include in a walking tour with other popular Chongqing landmarks like Jiefangbei and Hongya Cave.
