Air Travel with Infant in China

Air travel with a child or infant in China, you should prepare in advance. Since for some China’s airlines, you can not do infant booking on their website, such as Air China and Pacific Sun websites. So, you need to go the office or reservations center to book the tickets in advance of the departure day. As for the adult booking with an infant, you can book the adult's ticket on the website first and then the infant can be added by calling the airline’s reservations center.

Age Limit

Children up to 2 years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat as these children may sit on an adult's lap. For the airlines in China, the infant should be over 14 days old and if premature, over 90 days old.

General Regulation for Infant travelers 

One adult could not flying with more than two infants, 2 children and 1 infant, or 3 children.
One can only travel with infants when he got approval of the airlines. The infant should be more than 14 days old. If the infant is premature, it should be more than 90 days old.
The infant should be in the same cabin with the accompanying adult. If not in the same cabin, please follow the procedures of unaccompanied children.

Price of Ticket

Infant which are less than 2 years old can get a 90% discount of the published fare of economy class, business class or first class, but they do not have their own seats. If you want a single seat for your baby, please purchase the Child Fare ticket. When you take two infant traveling with you, you need to pay for a Child Fare ticket for one infant.  

Services for Infant Travelers 

Most flights of China’s airlines provide cradles for babies, such as Air China. You need to reserve a cradle 72 hours before the departure day to ensure one is available. For Air China, you can make the reservation at its local business department.

Meals for infant (take Air China for example)

There are two types of Baby Meal are served, including meat, vegetable or fruit.
