Located in the west if Hangzhou, and 5 km away from the West Lake, Xixi National Wetland Park is a farmland wetland in the urban area which is rare in China even in the world. Xixi Wetland is a network of rivers, Together with the Xihu (Chinese pronunciation of West Lake) and Xiling, Xixi wetland is one of the Tree "Xis" of Hangzhou. As an oasis in the urban area, it is honored as the first national wetland park in China, Chinese wetland museum and national base of environment protection and popular science.
 
Xixi National Wetland Park is densely crisscrossed with six main watercourses, among which scatter various ponds, lakes and swamps. Xixi Wetland has a history of more than 1,800 years and an abundant cultural heritage - it's the original site of Chinese South Opera; it has a traditional Dragon Boat Contest; it contains the vivid life of a water village, featuring silkworm feeding and silk production.
 
Xixi National Wetland Park is located in Hangzhou West, covers an area of 10.08 square kilometers, divided into the eastern wetland protected cultivation areas, the central wetland eco-tourism and leisure areas and the western wetland ecological landscape sealed conservation areas. Set Xixi Wetland ecology, urban wetlands, wetlands in one culture be called China's first wetland park, is an important Hangzhou tourist attractions.

Water – the soul of Xixi. The unique wetland scene is formed by pools, rivers and lakes. Sic rivers are crossing over and countless pools are dotted here and there which can be described as "a Chinese h a melody played by rivers"

Folk customs – the essence of Xixi. The Dragon Boat Match held annually is a historical festival with unique celebration. The stories about silk and embroideries represent the busy scene of the native residences. From these folk customs, one can totally experience the real watertown flavors.
 

What to See at Xixi Wetland

Shentankou

Every year during the Dragon Boat Festival, Xixi Dragon Boat Festival will be held in Shentankou. The custom of dragon boat race in Shentankou has a long history. It is said that it began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Southern Song Dynasty. When Emperor Qianlong went to the south of the Yangtze River, he was also named "Dragon Boat Festival". There are many forms of dragon boat in Jiangcun Village with various rowing methods, and it races performance rather than speed, which has strong local characteristics. Now, the Dragon Boat Festival has been included in the national intangible cultural heritage.
 

Fu Causeway

Fudi is 2,300 meters long and 7 meters wide, and runs through Xixi National Wetland Park from south to north. There are six bridges named after the word "Fu" on Fu Causeway, including Yuanfu Bridge, Yongfu Bridge, Qingfu Bridge, Xiangfu Bridge, Guangfu Bridge and Quanfu Bridge. Fu means happy and lucky in Chinese. Fu Causeway symbolizes that Hangzhou is the happiest city. It is open to the public free of charge and is a good place for nearby residents to walk, jog and relax. On both sides of Fu Causeway, scenic spots such as Yulin Town, Gaozhuang, Jiaolu Temple, Qushui Temple, Qingping Mountain Hall and Hezhu Street all show the rich historical and cultural heritage of Xixi Wetland.
 

Yanshui Fishery Village

Yanshui Fishery Village is a group of water-town residential houses formed by thinning, cutting, transforming and expanding some original peasant houses. They are built near the water, and there are exhibition halls such as silkworm and silk stories, stories of Xixi people and Xixi marriage customs, so that tourists can understand the living conditions of the original residents. Qiuxue Temple(Autumn Snow Temple)

Qiuxue Temple was built in Song Dynasty, formerly known as Dasheng Temple. According to ancient records, at that time, the former place of Qiuxue Temple was surrounded by reeds, which were endless. In late autumn, reed flowers bloomed like white snow, which was beautiful. Therefore, Chen Jiru named it "Autumn Snow Temple", whose inspiration is from a poetry of Tang Dynasty. Since then, Qiuxue Temple has gradually become a gathering place for literati. The Qiuxue Temple we see now is the rebuilt by Zhou Mengpo, and an ancestral hall of poets in Zhejiang was added in the temple to honor the poets in Zhejiang, with a total of 1,044 poets. There is also a Tanzhi(finger-snapping) Building in the temple, where you can overlook the Beishan mountains and enjoy the endless reeds.
 

Gaozhuang

Gaozhuang, also known as Xixi Mountain Villa, was built in Qing Dynasty(1657-1664). It was the villa of Gao Shiqi, a scholar in Qing Dynasty(1645 -1704), with typical characteristics of official residence in the front house and back garden in the late Ming and middle Qing Dynasties. During Kangxi's southern tour, he visited this place, and Gaozhuang became famous after that. Nowadays, Gaozhuang is composed of Gao’s Family houses, bamboo windows, Jiaoyuan poetry club and other buildings, which reproduces the historical scene of Kangxi's visit.
 

Hezhu Pagoda

Hezhu Pagoda, formerly known as "Hanggong Pagoda", was built in Qing Dynasty. At that time, scholars deeply admired Hang Shijun, a talented scholar in Hangzhou, so they raised funds to build a stone pagoda to commemorate him, but it no longer exists because of years of neglect. The current Hezhu Tower is rebuilt in a different place. The tower is 15 meters high and 7 meters wide, and the tower body is made slate. When you climb the tower, you can see the beautiful scenery of Xixi.
 

Ancestral Hall of Jiang’s Family

According to historical records, the Chiang family lived in Jiangcun Village area for generations, who made a fortune through hard work, and then moved to Hangzhou. During the famine years, Jiang Chongren, who ranked seventh in the Chiang family, bought a large amount of grain at the harvest time. When the grain was insufficient at the end of the year, he sold it to the masses at the original purchase price, and asked the grain buyers to weigh it themselves according to the amount of money. In the year of great disaster, he will also make porridge to help the victims. His two younger brothers, Jiang Chongyi and Jiang Chongxin, have also done good deeds one after another. The three brothers have been doing good deeds for more than 60 years. After the death of the three brothers, people set up a ancestral hall in their hometown to commemorate them, that is, the Ancestral Hall of Jiang’s Family. In 1267, Yin Qian reported the deeds of the three Chiang brothers to the court and asked for a reward. In the second year, the court granted The three brothers respectively.
