Linzhi spruce forest (Chinese name: 波密岗云杉林) of Bomigang Village is located in the 22 km west of Zhaxi town, where have been set aside to protect high forest nature reserve of forest ecological system in 1984.With a total area of 4600 hectares, including more than 2800 hectares of forest area, protected area down the mountain have towering ancient trees and rare wild animals, rich in all kinds of rare medicinal herbs. Reserve is mostly in the 2600 to 5000 meters above sea level, where is affected by the Indian Ocean southwest monsoon, the climate is humid and mild. Dense forest in the area mainly are spruce and fir tree with straight trunk and tall dark coniferous forest, part of thick forests grow with dense arrow bamboos, it also hard to pass through the dense bamboos. The age of tree in the protection zones up to 300 to 400 years old, some spruce tree diameter at breast height of 1.5-2.5 meters, 75-80 meters high. Reserve also contains extremely rich animal resources, such as leopard, argali, black bears, monkeys, snow chicken, musk deer, parrots, etc.

 

Geography

Linzhi spruce forest of Bomigang Village in Tibet, located in turns of Brahmaputra waters 22 km west of northeast Bomi county, middle and lower reaches of the Parlung Zangbu River from northeast to southwest across the mountains and lush forest sea, north of the warm air flow forms abundant rainfall and a mild climate, is central area of the development of the modern glaciers on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau region, one of the rare maritime glacier in China. The growth speed of trees in the protected area forest, continuous phase and unit volume is much higher than similar forest at home and abroad, especially spruce. In the area the mountain is high, ancient trees are towering, wild animals are rare, rare medicinal herb are various. In 1984 it was classified to set aside to protect high forest nature reserve of forest ecological system in 1984.

 

Characteristic

Bomigang village Nature Reserve, with a total area of 4600 hectares, reserves areas are at an altitude of 2700 meters. Affected by the Indian Ocean southwest monsoon, the climate is humid and mild. Here are linked by mountains and rivers and ancient trees spread over the slope, the tree are mainly rare tree like the spruce, Pinus armandi. Spruce forest growing very neat, tall trees rise straight from the ground, with the at breast circumference more than 4 to 5 meters, up to 80 meters high, per hectare stumpage volume of 3000 cubic meters, about 3 times more than the northeast forest region in our country; age is as high as 300 to 400 years old, the trunk of plant trees as many as 60 cubic wood, is the highest productivity dark coniferous forest in the world that has ever known.
