Dali - Lijiang Trains

Travel to China

Dali - Lijiang Trains

There are 7 pairs of trains travelling between Dali and Lijiang with daily departure. All of them are express trains. It only takes about 2 hours on the train. The relative train station is Dali Railway Station and Lijinag Railway Station. 

►Train from Dali to Lijiang

The earlest train in a day starts off at 05:16 in the early morning and the lastest one sets off at 17::27. You can choose the one the meets your travel scedule.

Recommended trains: K9629(09:30-11:47), K9619(15:36-17:12) and K9613(16:19-18:15) is recommended trains to take. They operates in the day, you can appreciate the view out of the windows, which is quite beautiful. If you take K9626, you can also have half day time to stroll in Lijiang Ancient town.

►Train from Lijiang to Dali

There are 7 trains traveling from 08:11 am to 21:30 pm. Four of them operat during the day and the other three operate at night. The fastest one takes about 1 hour and 35 minutes, while the lowest one takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Recommended trains: K9688, K9620 and K9630 are good choice to take. Generally, it is suggestted to take the train during the day, so as to have a good view outside the window. Also, you may choose the one that meets your travel schedule.

1. Booking an original train is easier than booking a passing-by train. Train ticket can be booked 20 days in advance at most. TCT suggests travellers to buy train ticket as early as possible, in case of the availability of hte ticket. There are four ways to book train tickets in China: at the Railway Station, Online booking, Telephone Booking, booking through travel agencies. 2. Generally, the seats on the train in China have tow types including soft seat and hard seat. Also, there are tow kinds of sleeper seats on China's trains which are hard sleeper seat and soft sleeper seat. Hard sleeper seats are divided into upper hard sleeper, middle hard sleeper and lower hard sleeper (lower hard sleeper is the best); while soft sleeper seats are divided into upper soft sleeper and lower soft sleeper (lower soft sleeper is better).

3. In China, taking a train is a comparative cheaper way to cut down the travel cost. While correspondingly, the comfortable level is lower than by air.
Luggage: you need to take the luggages by yourself and keep an eye of them on transporting time, no luggage-checking service on the train
Carriage: it may be crowded when in the domestic travel seasons as well as summer holidays.

Best Time to Visit Lijiang:

Generally, Lijiang is always popular with tourists in any month of the year. But the best time is from April to October. Best Time to Visit Dali:
The best time to visit Dali is right from Mar to Oct, from the early springtime to the mid-autumn period. Try to Avoid Domestic Travel Season 
The most crowded seasons in China are Chinese Spring Festival (usually in late Jan or early Feb.), International Labor Day (May 01 to 03) and National Day (Oct 01-07). Spring Festival and the National Day golden week are the most crowded time for travelling.
