Tianjin Transport

Tianjin is one of the four municipalities directly under the Central Government in China, is located in the northeast of the North China Plain and is the closest seaport to Beijing. The city is one of the biggest industrial and port cities in China and it is also known as 'the diamond of the Bohai Gulf'. Tianjin covers an area of 11,000 square kilometers and has a population in excess of 10 million people.

City Traffic


Air
Tianjin Binghai Railway Station has been one of the large modern airports in Tianjin. It is located in Zhanggui Town, Dongli District, Tianjin. It is only 13 km away from the downtown center of Tianjin. It is the second largest airport in the north of Chin after Beijing International Airport. Also it is used for making preparation for dropping for the Beijing International Airport. There are a total of 81 international and domestic airlines. It connects with more 62 cities, such, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Dalian, Seoul of South Korea etc. And there are more 6 flights flying to and from those above mentioned cities. There are 6 Airport shuttle buses. These buses can reach Taida Buses Station, Haihe Bund, Yuexiu Road and other many places. And there are also high-speed direct buses to get to Beijing, and the terminal is Beijing Bawang Tomb.

Railway
Tianjin Railway Station is located in the intersection of Beijing-Harbin Railway Line, Tianjin-Jixian Town and Tianjin-Shanghai Railway Line. The trains here depart to Beijing, Shanhaiguang, Jinan, Jixian, Bazhou and other surrounding cities.

There are 4 railway station in this city, that is, Tianjin Railway Station (in the east side of Jiefang Bridge), Tianjin North Railway Station (in Hebei District), Tianjin South Railway Statioin ( in Hedong District) and Tianjin West Railway Station(in the downtown). Among the four stations, Tianjin Railway and Tianjin West Railway Station are the main passenger stations. Train departing the two stations can reach more than 40 cities like Shijigzhuang, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xian, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Kowloon, Hong Kong, etc. The first high-speed railway line Beijing-Tianjin High-speed Railway Line was open in 2008. And the running speed of if can reach 350 km per hour.

Road
It only takes 30 minutes drive by the high-speed road from Tianjin to Bejing. There four national main roads passing Tianjin city: Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Expressway, Beijing-Fuzhou Expressway, and Lhasa-Dandong Expressway. And there are also other national roads, such as, Beijing-Harbin High Way, Beijing-Tangshan High Way, Tianjin-Datong High Way, etc. There are a total of 4243 km road in the city. So roads are very convenient for visitors to travel to other cities.

Waterway
Tianjin port passenger Transport Corporation is only 5 km away from Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area. There are 2 domestic passenger lines in Tianjin Port: Tianjin to Yantai Line and Tianjin to Dalian Line. And there are also 2 international passenger lines in the port: Tianjin to Kobe, in Japan, and Tianjin to Inchon in South Korea.

Intercity Traffic


Subway
Tianjin Metro Line No.1 extends Liu Garden in Beichen District in the north to Shuanglin in Jinnan District. It needs about 30 minutes to pass through the downtown of Tianjin. The running hour is from 6:00 am to 22:00 pm. The interval is less than 4 minutes in the rush hours. Metro Line No.9 is a light rail from the downtown to the Development Area. For now, there are 17 stations along Metro Line No.9. And the running hour is about 40 minutes along the whole way.

Light Rail
There are two departure stations of Light Rail in the downtown of Tianjin, that is, Hongshanmen Station and Development Area. There are stations in the main area along the rail. Generally, it takes about 40 minutes to travel from the downtown to the Tanggu Station.

Public Bus
A lot of public buses in Tianjin carry out self-service ticketing system. And some of the buses charge according to the distance. The bus with self-service ticketing system only charge 1 or 2 yuan each time. When you get on the bus, you put the money in a fixed box. There is no need to pay when you get off the bus.

Taxi
There are also plenty of Taxis in Shanghai and the taxi fare has an affordable rate: ¥8 for the first 3 km, and 1.7 RMB pre kilometers thereafter. Foreign language speakers can write their destinations in Chinese or simply show maps to the taxi drivers, as many of them speak only limited English.
