I would like to visit zhangjiajie in autumn, when is the best date to visit to avoid crowded but still can see colourful leaves?

The best time to visit Zhangjiajie is all year around, especially from April to October.. Also, autumn season from October to December is also another recommended time with fewer rainy days and typhoon. Zhangjiajie is also called a "city of spring" due to its comfortable year-round temperatures that hover around 16°C.

There is peak, shoulder and low seasons traveling in China, so the time you choose will make a difference in the price. Normally April-May & Sep-Oct will be peak season and the tour rate will be at the higher end, so if you are on a budget and travel time is flexible, then it will be better to avoid that period.
