Stone Forest is located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. Lying at the altitude between 1500m-1900m, there belongs to subtropics low altitude plateau mountain monsoon climate. The average annual temperature is about 16℃. 78 km away from Kunming, the Stone Forest is the only Karst scenic area in subtropics plateau. Top 3 Three Gorges

Three Gorges is a great valley with a most splendid landscape in the Yangtze River and it is one of the ten most famous scenic sites of China. It extends from White Emperor City in Fengjie County, Chongqing Municipality to Nanjin Pass in Yichang, Hubei Province, consisting of Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge, with a full length of 193 km.

It covers the essence of the scenery on the Yangtze River. Within this distance, they are arranged in such a manner with other gorges and valleys that one is narrow and the following one is wide by turn. Because of this topography, the momentum of the river water is pent-up in the narrow valleys and released abruptly in gorges. In those bottle-necks, water rushes down swiftly and wildly, reminding one of any angry beast. Traveling in a cruise ship in this part of the Yangtze River, one can not only enjoy grotesquely shaped rock formations and magnificent mountains along the river and the rolling water but also poems inscribed by ancient scholars. With a variety of landscape of China, it has been displaying its special charms for thousands of years.

The beautiful landscape of the gorge region has given birth to a splendid culture. It is one of the birthplaces of the civilizations of China. The famous Daxi Culture, which originated here, has shed brilliant light on the civilizations in the long history. The valleys were once the battlefields during the period of the Three Kingdoms, where countless heroes displayed their proness and talent. Besides, a great many well-known historical sites such as White Emperor City, Huangling Temple and Nanjin Pass, add charm to the landscape.

Top 4 Guilin Landsacapes

People often say that “East or west, Guilin’s landscape is the best.” Sitting in a small wooden boat and appreciate the beauty of Guilin’s landscape along the Li River, what an enjoyable thing!

Having enjoyed the magnificent sea and the mirror-like West Lake, I was still amazed when seeing Li River. Green like a flawless jade, Li River is so peaceful that you can hardly feel the flowing water, and it is so clear that you can easily see the sand and stones in the bottom. Only the waves stirred by the quant would remind you that you are moving forward. Different from Tai Mountain and Xiangshan Hill famous for their mighty peaks and flaming maple leaves respectively, Guilin’s hills feature in their weird-looking shapes——giant elephant, camel, old men, etc. Green and steep, a range of hills are standing along both sides of the river with their reflections falling in the water.

The hills surround the water, and the water reflects the hills. Furthermore, the cloud and mist around you, trees and flowers speckling the hills, and the bamboo rafts floating on the water often confused people whether they are walking in a gallery with endless scrolls of Chinese paintings? Just as an old poem goes “On boat line bluish waves, person is drawing middle reaches”.
