The scene of Huangguoshu Waterfall changes while you are standing in different places. One place is Waterfall-Viewing Pavilion (Guan Bao Ting), from which you can see the whole fall in distance. Next one is Water-Viewing Pavilion (Guan Shui Ting), where you take a bird's-eye view of it. The third one is Waterfall-Viewing Stage (Guan Bao Tai) beside Xiniu Tan, in which you raise your head to see the splendid scene. The best place is Little Moon Stage (Xiao Yue Tai) behind Water-Curtain Cave (Shui Lian Dong) where you could see it, touch it and enjoy it. Between nine o'clock to eleven o'clock every morning in clear days, you may see a rainbow, sometimes you may see two.
Huangguoshu Waterfall, located 45 kilometers southwest of Anshun City, Guizhou Province, is located in Zhenning Buyi and Miao Autonomous County. It is named after the local plant called Huangguoshu. Huangguoshu Waterfall is famous at home and abroad for its magnificent waterfalls and numerous waterfalls. It is very magnificent and enjoys the reputation of the first waterfall in China.
The rushing river flows straight down the Rhinoceros Pool from the cliff more than 70 meters high, making a deafening noise, such as thousands of people beating drums and thousands of horses running. The sound is like thunder, and the shock is miles away, which makes the tourists who come to Guizhou thrilling.
Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area is divided into three connected areas: Tianxing Bonsai Area, Tianxing Cave Scenic Area and Water Stone Forest Area. Here stalagmites are dense, the vegetation is lush, and the water is beautiful, integrating mountains, water, forests and caves. Tianxing Cave
Except for the waterfalls, the caves at Huangguoshu Waterfall are also beautiful. Tianxing Cave is located in the middle of the Tianxing Bridge scenic area, which is 43 kilometers from Anshun. Tianxing Cave used to be an underground river. Later, due to the lowering of the drainage surface and the diversion of water, an underground cave without water was formed here. The cave is cool and surrounded by gorgeous lights and colorful stalactites. During the formation of stalactites, stalactites grow from top to bottom, stalagmites from bottom to top, and stone pillars connected from top to bottom. If the water flows along the rock wall, the formed shape is called a stone curtain.
Water Stone Forest
There is a water stone forest in Huangguoshu Scenic Area, located 6 kilometers downstream of Huangguoshu. It is a pocket stone forest about 1 kilometer long and 500 meters wide. It is partly on land and partly in water. The river separates the two sides of the circulation from the top of the stone forest and meets below, enclosing a stone forest in the water. The water in the area twists and turns, and the stone forests are dotted out of the water. The river flows in and out of the stone forest, passing through stone peaks, stone trenches, stone walls and crevices. Large areas of cactus, small bushes and various flowers and plants make the cold stone shade all year round, showing the prosperity of life.
Yinlian Zhuitan Waterfall is one of the most spectacular and picturesque waterfalls at Huangguoshu Waterfall. Yinlian Zhuitan Waterfall is located in the Tianxing Bridge scenic area, 7 kilometers from Huangguoshu Waterfall. The waterfall is about ten meters high, with a funnel-shaped top and a trough-shaped dissolved pool at the bottom. The stones raised above are like lotus leaves covered under each other. The water spreads evenly on every stone, and flows freely, like many large and small silver chains. In the high flow period, the Yinlian Zhuitan Waterfall is really splendid. And the Yinlian Zhuitan Waterfall is elegant and beautiful when it is covered by the sunlight, which adds the beauty of the waterfall.
Stone Village, also known as Shitouzhai Village, is a Buyi village with typical stone buildings. The stone houses in the whole village are stacked on top of each other and built by mountains, and the layout is orderly. Houses and buildings are all wood and stone structures, without bricks and tiles. The stone houses are durable, warm in winter and cool in summer. The old houses are designed and built by the villagers themselves, which are full of local and national characteristics and are called "the stone kingdom without bricks and tiles".
Xiake Viewing Waterfall Viewing Platform
Xiake Viewing Waterfall Viewing Platform is the best place to view the Huangguoshu Waterfall, which is also the place that Xu Xiake viewed the Huangguoshu Waterfall in the past. Xu Xiake is a famous geographer and explorer in Ming Dynasty, who had visited the Huangguoshu Waterfall and was amazing by the magnificent view of the Huangguoshu Waterfall. The best place to view the Huangguoshu Waterfall is near the Xiake Viewing Waterfall Viewing Platform and Xiake Pavilion, where you can have a panoramic view of the Huangguoshu Waterfall and Rhinoceros Pool in different perspectives.
The best time to visit the Huangguoshu Waterfall is from June to August, when is the high flow period of the waterfall. During this time, the Huangguoshu Waterfall is spectacular with rich water, and the drop in elevation can reach 101 meters at this time. Please note that July and August is the school summer vacation, when most of the attractions are full of domestic tourists. And September to November is the average water level period with less crowds. And the reflection of the Water Stone Forest at Tianxing Bridge is really beautiful during this time. March to April is the drought period of the Huangguoshu Waterfall, which is not so beautiful and spectacular as high flow period.
By bus: You can take direct bus from Guiyang Old Bus Station to Huangguoshu Waterfall, which takes about 2.5 hours.
High-speed train&taxi: You can also take high-speed train to Anshun West Station from Guiyang, taking about 30 minutes, then take taxi to Huangguoshu Waterfall, which takes about 40 minutes.
