Where to See Seagulls in Kunming?

Kunming has warm weather for most of the time, which is attractive for those black-headed gulls. Each year, tens of thousands of Siberian seagulls fly to Kunming to hibernate. Normally the best time for seagull-watching is from November to the next March. Where to see seagulls in Kunming? Cuihu Park

Cuihu Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Kunming. When the winter approaches, thousands of red-headed gulls flying from the northern part of China and Siberia will hibernate in Cuihu Park. As a result, Cuihu Park has become a very popular attraction among tourists.


Cuihu Park is free to enter, except for watching seagulls, here you can also enjoy the beautiful natural sceneries. By the way, the Yuantong Temple is nearby, you can connect your trip and experience Buddhism culture in Kunming as well.

Haigeng Park

Haigeng Park is also one of the best seagull-watching places in Kunming. The south side of the park is connected to the vast Dianchi Lake, stretching about 2.5 kilometers. Here you can see a spectacular picture of seagulls flying up and down the Dianchi Lake.


As the west side of Haigeng Park is connected with the ropeway to the Western Hill & Dragon Gate, you can enjoy a full view of Dianchi Lake along the way up. Besides, Yunnan Ethnic Village is closed to the north side of the park, you can explore the colorful ethnic culture there.

Haigeng Dam

Daguan Park

Daguan Park is located at the north side of the Dianchi Lake, with marvelous sceneries and exquisite pavilions. Meanwhile, it’s a good choice for you to watch seagulls, while appreciating historical architectures.
