Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area or Jiuzhaigou Valley is located in Jiuzhaigou, Aba, Sichuan, in the north of Sichuan province, close to the border between Sichuan province and Gansu province. It is close to three big cities, Chengdu, Lanzhou and Xi'an. Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area is listed among the most beautiful scenic areas in China, reputed for its beautiful and tranquil scenery.
Jiuzhaigou Airport, also known as Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport, is located in Songpan, Aba, Sichuan, and it is in the southwest of Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, serving two major scenic places in this area, Huanglong National Park and Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area. Jiuzhaigou Airport is 3,448 meters (11,312 ft) above sea level and is the third highest airport in China (after Qamdo and Lhasa). Due to the elevation, some passengers may experience symptoms of altitude sickness. Please pay attention to altitude sickness and prepare some medicine when planning to fly into or out of Jiuzhai Huanglong airport. From the airport to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, it is about 86 kilometers, and expressway S301 is available. Here lists some options for your transportation to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area.
Option 1: Airport Shuttle Bus
Airport Shuttle Bus travelling between the airport and Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area are available for tourists. The airport shuttle bus travels about 1.5 hours and costs 45 yuan for a single trip, and 80 yuan for a round trip, but it is out of service after 17:00. Still its departure time is affected by flights and number of tourists. In daytime, you could choose this option, especially when you travel alone.
Option 2: Taxi
Taking a taxi may be a good choice for you to get to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area from the airport. It takes about 2 hours and costs about 200-250 yuan for a single trip. In night, the taxi fare will a big higher.
Option 3: Car Rental
Car Rental is a highly recommended way for you. This means you can rent a private car with an experienced driver to take you there. After you get out of the airport, there are many private cars for tourists to charter one. The charter fare would be 200 yuan or so. Of course, you could book a transfer service from a travel agency.
