6 Days Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou Valley Extension Tour

Day 1

Arrive Chengdu
Arrive in Chengdu, the destination of your trip, you will be met at the airport then transferred to the hotel for check-in. Enjoy your own free time for the rest of the day.

Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan Province. With a population of 11 million, it is an important commercial transportation, and communications hub of south-western China. The locals have a reputation for a laid back attitude and knowing how to enjoy life. Historically, Chengdu has a special place in the annals of finance. The world's first paper money, the 'Jiao Zi' was minted in Chengdu in the year 1023.

Day 2

Chengdu
Today you will have a city tour that covering the visit to Thatched Cottage of Dufu, Wuhou Temple and Jinli Old Street. Optional Hot Pot in Sichuan style is available for a dinner if you are interested.

Thatched Cottage of Dufu is a beautiful garden and museum to honor Du Fu, one of the greatest Chinese poets of all times. Along with Li Po, he is frequently called the greatest of the Chinese poets. In 760 Du arrived in Chengdu, where he based himself for most of the next five years. He wrote more than 240 poems at this cottage.

Located in the southern suburb of Chengdu, Wuhou Temple was first built in 265 during the Western Jin Dynasty in memory of Zhuge Liang, prime minister in charge of the Kingdom of Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280). It is the largest museum of the site left over from the Three Kingdoms Period, and a very quiet oasis in the city.

Chengdu Jinli Old Street was set up and opened for public in 2004. Walking in this street, historic lanes, old official residences, vernacular dwelling, inns and shops will bring you back to the ancient China.

The big draw of Chengdu is delicious Sichuan Cuisine. Sichuan is famous for its spicy food, and one of its delicacies is the hot pot. Fortunately, you will have a chance to taste Sichuan Hot Pot today. The Sichuan Hot Pot is a bubbling cauldron of extremely hot oil and water. Dip your choice of the variety of supplied foods into the pot: meats, vegetables or tofu. It's a very social meal. People sit around to enjoy food and make a long evening out of it.

Day 3

Chengdu 
Today, you will start your one day tour with a visit to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (about 40min driving), where you may have chance to see cute pandas. Then continue your tour to Sanxingdui Museum (about 40min driving), which is recognized as one of world's most important ancient remains. After the tour, be transferred back to your hotel. Famous Sichuan Opera is available after the tour for your optional activity.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the world-famous Panda breeding research located about 10km out of the city. This institution replicates the natural habitat of the giant panda and is dedicated to preserving and increasing their population. Visitors are able to hold lovely pandas and be photographed with them.

Sanxingdui Museum is the place where you can learn about the culture that existed between 2,800 and 800 BC. The museum houses ancient remains including bronze wares, jade and stone objects, gold articles, pottery and bone objects excavated near present city of Guanghan, a famous historic and cultural city 40km from Chengdu in the south.

Sichuan Opera is staged in a local tea house, so during the show you may enjoy tea and snacks. There are folk music, opera, solo music, some comedy, amazing acrobatics, shadow puppets, intriguing face changing and spectacular fire eating. You'll be enthused by colorful costumes, sounds of traditional music and charmed by the shadow play.

Day 4

Chengdu    Jiuzhaigou Valley
Today take a short flight to Jiuzhaigjou Valley in the morning. After landing, you will be transferred to the hotel for some well-deserved rest.

Jiuzhaigou Valley (Jiuzhaigou) is a nature reserve in the north of Sichuan. Jiuzhaigou Valley took the name from the nine Tibetan villages living in the valley which is composed of three valleys in a Y shape. The Rize and Zechawa valleys flow from the south and meet at the centre of the site where they form the Shuzheng valley, flowing north to the mouth of the valley. Jiuzhaigou's best-known feature is its dozens of blue, green and turquoise-colored lakes. The local Tibetan people call them "Haizi", meaning "son of the sea"

Day 5

Jiuzhaigou Valley
Enjoy your whole day time for the excursion in this fairy land (green vans available in the scenic area), which will include those major attractions such as Shuzheng Waterfall, Changhai Lake and so on. Stay overnight at Jiuzhaigou Valley.

Upon entering the resort, you will find yourself strolling in a fairyland, leaving behind nothing but earthly troubles and vexations. It is a world of water, the clearest in the world. Water brings Jiuzhaigou its most enchanting views, which is the soul of the place. Whether you are met with serene lakes or plunging waterfalls, you will enjoy yourself so much among the charming sights as to linger on with no thoughts for home.

Day 6

Jiuzhaigou Valley    Chengdu, Departure
Feel free until be transferred to the airport for the flight back to Chengdu for your connecting flight to next destination.
