6 Days Guilin Hiking Tour

Day 1

Arrival Guilin
Arrive in Guilin, the start of this tour. Be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for a good rest.

Guilin is world-famous for its serene landscape, Karst limestone formations, mist-covered hills and bamboo groves. It is home to more than ten ethnic groups, including Han, Zhuang, Miao, Yao, Hui and Dong. On the way from the airport to your hotel, you will see dozens of pretty hills everywhere in the city of Guilin. It is a city of hills and green trees and boasts one of the most photographed areas of China.

Day 2

Guilin    Longsheng
In the morning, you will take about 2.5hours driving to Longsheng, and then enjoy your hiking tours around Ping'an Zhuang Village for wonderful views include Zhuang and Yao Minority tribes villages. Stay overnight in Pingan Village.

Ping'an is a Zhuang minority village high up in the mountains at Longji. The village is only accessible by foot, and from across the valley, the visitor has a first impression of entering another land as the buildings, clustered around the hillside, are all two story wooden structures resembling a European Alpine village. This is the traditional Zhuang style house and among them there are excellent guest houses that can cater to all your practical needs. Pingan is surrounded by beautiful terraced rice fields. From a distance, the terraces look like contour lines on a topographical map, texturing the ridges, mountainsides and valleys.  It is a charming environment that will have the most demanding photographer constantly busy and wearing a slightly demented grin.
 

Day 3

Longsheng    Guilin
In the morning, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery of terraced rice field and exotic ethnic culture after hiking about 3.5 hours up to Tiantou Village in Jinkeng Rice Terraces Area. After lunch in the local farm house, continue to trek 2km to visit Yao family in Dazhai Village. Walk to parking lots to have a break. Drive back to Guilin.

Located around 40 km away from Longsheng, Jinkeng Rice Terraces is home to Yao minorities, where you will be rewarded feats of magnificent rice growing fields going all the way up a string of 2400 feet (800 m) mountains. The 66-square-km network irrigation project was begun by the ethnic Zhuang people in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368).

There are two villages in Jinkeng: Tiantou Village, where you will have a panoramic view of the whole area of Jinkeng Rice Terrace and Dazhai Village.
 

Day 4

Guilin        Yangdi    Xingping    Yangshuo
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Yangdi and dropped off at the pier there. Start the hiking to Xingping along the Li River bank. Have a short rest at Xingping, take a driving to Yangshuo. Dinner and stay overnight at Yangshuo. The popular Impression of Liu sanjie directed by Zhang Yimou is available as your night show.

The distance between Guilin and Yangdi is about 20km. The whole hiking route (Yangdi-Xingping) will take you about 6hours.

Yangdi is a small and quiet riverside village far from the bustle of city. It is known as the start point of Li River highlight section. About 30 minutes hiking forward will bring you to Langshi, your second crossing point. Walking downstream along the picturesque scenery you will reach Nine-horses Mural Hill, one of the symbolic sights of the Li River. The third crossing point is not far from the hill. After taking the third ferry and about 8 km hiking, you'll see Yellow Cloth Shoal where peaks are steep and water surface is wide and calm. Here the riverbed can be seen clearly covered with the sands which resemble a piece of yellow cloth. The coach will be found waiting at Xingping to pick you up to Yangshuo. The distance between Xiangping and Yangshuo is about 26 km.

Some guests may also hear about the night show- Impressions of Liu Sanjie performance, which utilizes the waters of the Li River as its stage, flanked by twelve mist shrouded hills and the heavens as its backdrop. Mist, rain, moonlight, the hills and their inverted reflections in the river all become the ever-changing natural background, so you will enjoy a unique experience each time you attend. In the 'Impressions of Liu Sanjie', you will be presented with stylized scenes and events from the daily life of the Zhuang people living around the Li River.
 

Day 5

Yangshuo    Guilin
In the morning time, you will take a visit to Moon Hill and Big Banyan Tree by bicycle. Besides you can choose to visit a local primary school named Fenglou, which is a part of TopChinaTravel Giving Back Trip. Be transferred back to Guilin City in the afternoon.

From Yangshuo, take a short, pleasant drive to the Moon Hill, a great limestone peak with a naturally created moon-shaped cavern passing through just below its summit. Reaching the upper section of Moon Hill requires you to make a steep climb up a well-made path through groves of dense bamboo. Once past the luxuriant vegetation, the path enters the great natural opening that distinguishes this mountain from its neighbors. The landscape is stunning viewed from Moon Hill; the skyline is lined with peaks of almost equal height – resembling a jumble of giant rock traffic-cones pointing skywards.

The Big Banyan Tree is located on the west bank of Jinbao River approximately 7.5km south of Yangshuo. It is said to have a history of nearly 1,400 years and has survived centuries of wind and rain. The Big Banyan Tree is now 17 meters high, 7.1 meters around the main trunk, and spans an area of 1000 square meters. As a major tourist attraction, the enormous Banyan is famous for its age and towering beauty. It is also noted because the Chinese film 'The legend of Liu Sanjie' was partly shot here. The beautiful love story adds to the magic of this centuries-old tree.
