Wanfenglin Scenic Area

Wanfenglin Scenic Area or Wanfeng Forest is a natural site of numerous peaks, literally named a forest of tremendous peaks. Those peaks belong to karst landforms, and such a large scale of peaks make it one of the three karst landforms in the southwest of China, with a total area of 2000 square kilometers, over 200 kilometers long and 30-50 kilometers wide. Wanfeng Forest is the largest peak forest of typical karst formations in China. Because of this, it is also called a karst museum. Standing on the mountain top, you could admire its magnificent views.



Wanfenglin Scenic Area is divided into two parts, East Wanfenglin and West Wanfenglin. But only West Wanfenglin located in Wutun town opens to the public, and East Wanfenglin hasn’t been developed as a tourist spot. Therefore, you will visit West Wanfenglin, and the following information is about sightseeing to Wanfenglin. Except captivating views, Wanfenglin also has several villages of Buyi ethnic groups where tourists could learn their culture, and experience local custom.

Wanfenglin Scenic Area has a pleasant climate, suitable for living, and it has an average annual temperature between 16℃-18 ℃, without severe cold in winter and heat wave in summer. The average temperature in July is between 21℃-26 ℃,  and it is listed as a National Summer Resort due to those favorable weather.



Wanfenglin Scenic Area has several natural wonders for sightseeing, peak, pits, fissures, forests, lakes springs and caves, widely distributed, and formed by its unique landscape. Those green magnificent peaks, placid villages, beautiful fields with changeable colors due to season changes, make it a map depot with endless beauty. It is one of best places for leisure and tourism, and have a deep tour in less-trodden China villages.

Wanfenglin Scenic Area has two entrances, one is in the north gate where tourists need to take a small train to get to the main scenic area, and the other is in the Xu Xiake square where tourists could take sightseeing bus into the scenic area and begin the tour. It has 10 scenic spots are the General Peak, Stars Clustering Around the Moon, Brocade Field, Bagua Field, Dashun Peak, Earth Eye, Luoshui Cave, etc. Wanfenglin Scenic Area has a fixt sightseeing route for sightseeing bus, and those buses would bring you to the scenic spots one by one, and bring you back the front gate. Moreover, there is custom museum for you to know local custom, cloth, and their history.

► Open time: 08:00-18:00(March-November), 08:00-17:30(December-February).

► Ticket

• Entrance ticket: 60 yuan (December to February), 70 yuan(March to November).
• Small train: 50 yuan.
• Sightseeing bus: 50 yuan.
• Bike: 40 yuan for a day, 15 yuan for an hour.

► Sightseeing time: 2-3 hours. Tourists may start the tour after 10: 00 AM, because in the early morning, there are fogs which may block the view.

► Sightseeing way: sightseeing bus (50 yuan).

Wanfenglin Scenic Area is so large that you are advised to take a sightseeing bus.The sightseeing bus has fixed number for tourists, and a fixed sightseeing route in a ring shape for 8 scenic spots, with no returning back. Everyone taking the same bus would have sightseeing time at those fixed viewing platforms for taking pictures, and the staying time at each scenic spot is basically fixed, 5-10 minutes.

If you want to walk, it is totally fine, but it may take you much time, almost a day, because it covers a vast land, with a hiking road of decades of kilometers.

► How to Get to Wanfenglin



Wanfenglin is located in the southeast of Xingyi City, Guizhou Province, bordering Guangxi in the south. From Xingyi to Wanfenglin, the distance is 12 km, and the driving time is about 25 minutes. If you take taxi, the fare will be about 35 yuan. For saving money, you could take No. 19 public bus, which costs only 2 yuan in a  40 min.
