► Location: Kanas Scenic Area is located at Burjin County, Altay City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, in the northmost of Xijiang, close to Altay(245 km, 4 h of driving) and Urumqi(922 km, 13 h of driving). For travelling to Kanas, there are airport, and bus station for tourists. Tourists could first go to Burjin County or Altay City, then to Kanas.
► Ways to Get to Kanas
By flight (recommended)
Fly to Altay, then to Kanas. For tourists' convenience, there is 1 flight heading to Kanas Airport from Altay Airport every day, and the flight time is 10: 35 AM-11:10 AM, only 35 min. The full price for a second class ticket is 600 yuan. After getting to Kanas Airport, you could take airport shuttle bus to Kanas Scenic Area, 65 yuan per person, 1.5 hours.
By train
Tourist could take train from Urumqi to Beitunshi Railway Station, then to Kanas Scenic Area. From Beitunshi Railway Station to Kanas Scenic Area, it takes 4.5-5 hours for a distance of 315 km, and you could take bus, take taxi or charter a car to there.
For getting to Kanas, tourists could take train or take plane. Though flight is much faster than train, but costs more. We recommend you take plane, because it saves you much time and energy.
Kanas Scenic Area is located in the northmost of Xinjiang Province, close to the national border between China and Kazakhstan. Kanas Scenic Area is a huge place to visit, covering an area of 10,030 square kilometers, and comprised of dozens of parts. And the mainly ones are Kanas Lake Scenic Area, Hemu Scenic Area, and Baibaha Scenic Area. Kanas Lake is a shining pearl hidden among mountains, and has an elevation of 1374 meters, covering an area of 45.73 square kilometers.
