Turpan Railway Station

Turpan is located at the basin of the north part of Tianshan Mountain in Xinjiang. It is the transportation junction connecting Xinjiang and Central Asia. Covering an area of 70,000 square meters, Turpan administrates the Turpan City, Shanshan County, Tuksun County, 26 towns, 2 subdistrict offices and 172 administrative villages. The total population is 600,000, which Uyghur occupies 77% of it.

Turpan is located at the middle of Xinjiang Urghur Autonomous Region. Turpan borders Kumul at east, Hejing County, Heshuo County, Weili County and Roqiang County at south and west, Qitai County, Jimsar County and Mulei County at north.
Located in the Turpan Basin, it has long been known as "Fire State" or "Land of Fire" for its extreme summer heat. This is due to it being in the second deepest inland depression in the world.
 

Best Time to Visit Turpan

The best time to visit Turpan is from July to September. During this period, the weather begins to be cooler, fruits are ripe, which is very suitable for explore the Silk Road and taste western China’s amorous feelings. Also at this period, in Turpan there will be some tourism activities. But the 3 months are also peak season, which means there will be a lot of visitors to Xinjiang. 
 

Tips for Travelling by Train

1, Take care of your personal property, if possible do not carry large amounts of cash on the train. Keep valuables in your carry bag, and put the bag before your chest. When waiting for the train and getting on, try to put your hand on top or on the bag zipper (buttons). At seat, then put the bag on lap or before your chest, to prevent theft. Rest at night put my bag on the inside of your seat. Baggage should be placed in a place within sight.
 
2. Prepare small change. Buy lunch or shopping in the train, do not count money but use the money prepared in advance.
 
3. Be vigilant. Best sleep at night in shifts with your companion. When the train stops by the stations, the flow of people increased, pay attention to your luggage, to prevent pilfering.
