Major National Historical and Cultural Sites in Tibet

There are 35 Major National Historical and Cultural Sites in Tibet. Major National Historical and Cultural Sites, or important heritage sites under the state protection of the People's Republic of China, are approved for the highest level of protection of the immovable cultural relics. According to the Article of "13 Republic of China Cultural Relics Protection Law" approved at the Thirtieth Meeting of the National People's Congress on October 28, 2002,  Chinese cultural relics administrative department under the State Council (the State Bureau of Cultural Relics) at the provincial, city and county-level units, select the great historical, artistic or scientific value sites and identify as important heritage sites under state protection, or directly to determine and report to the State Council for approving and announcing. The heritage sites under state protection’s scope of protection and log files must be put on records by he State Council.
