How to Get to Wang Courtyard from Pingyao Ancient Town

Where is Wang Courtyard?

Wang Family Compound is located in Jingsheng Town, Lingshi County, 35 kilometers (about 22 miles) from Pingyao Ancient City and 140 kilometers (about 87 miles) from Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. Covering a total area of 150,000 square meters, it is a luxurious residence built during 1762-1811 by the descendants of the Wang Family and is also a museum of architectural art with traditional cultural characteristics. The transport between two cities are convenient. It is quite easy to get there by bus from Pingyao City.

By Bus (Highly Recommend)

It is the best way to take direct bus to get to Wang Family Compound. There are two direct buses leaving for Wang Family Compound from Pingyao Bus Station(平遥汽车站) every day. One departs at 7:10 a.m. from Pingyao Bus Station and returns back from the courtyard at 11:00 a.m. The other bus departs at 1:20 p.m. from Pingyao Bus Station and returns back from the courtyard at 4:30 p.m. It takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes for one way.

By Train (Pingyao-Jiexiu-Wang Courtyard)

If you miss the direct tourist bus, you can also get to the courtyard via Jiexiu(介休市). There are 19 trains depart from Pingyao to Jiexiu, which takes 10 minutes to 25 minutes for the journey. The train fare is at least 6 RMB. Or one can find a bus to Jiexiu from Pingyao Bus Station and the price is about 15 RMB. Upon your arrival at Jiexiu Bus Station, you can change to a bus to Wang Courtyard. The bus departs every 30 minutes to Wang Courtyard.

Also, one can share a private car pick up to the Wang Courtyard with other people. You need to the consult the information desk of the hotel or hostel where you are staying at. They will give good suggestion for you about that.
