By Flight

Taolai Airport (EJN) is the only airport in Ejina. It is a very small airport and only has the two flights operated by Okay Airways and Joy Air to Xian, Zuoqi Banner, and Youqi Banner. For its limited condition on flights, usually it is recommended to get to other cities around Ejina first, and then drive to Ejina. You could choose Jiuquan, Jiayuguan, or Yinchuan as the beginning city.
 

  • From Yinchuan (770km & 8.5 hours journey): It is the most recommended beginning city since there are many flights from other cities to Yinchuan, and the scenery on the way you could see is pretty beautiful.
     
  • From Jiayuguan (400km & 5.5 hours journey): As one of the most important cities on the Silk Road, many travelers would like to pay a visit to Ejina after Jiayuguan.
     
  • From Jiuquan (380km & 5 hours journey): It is the nearest city to Ejina, but there are no many available flights to Jiuquan from other cities. And you would cross the depopulated area from Jiuquan to Ejina, which is a bit boring and no must to see on the way.
     

By Train

In 2011, the passenger train between Ejina and Hohhot was officially open, which complete the history gap. The whole journey is 1100km and 13 hours, stopping at Ejina, Linhe, Baotou and Hohhot. This is the first train to cross the desert and arrive at the most western city of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
