How to Get to Xitang Water Town from Hangzhou

Where is Xitang Water Town?

Address: Xitang Town, Jiashan County 314100, China

Xitang Water Town (西塘古镇) is 90 km from Shanghai City, 80 km from Suzhou City and 100 km from Hangzhou City. It is one of the six most famous water towns in South China. 9 rivers converge in this town, dividing it into 8 sections, but many bridges link this water town together. Inside the town, there are many well-preserved architectural groups constructed during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
 

How to Get to Xitang Water Town from Hangzhou?

By Train

To get to Xitang Water Town by train, you should take high-speed train from Hangzhou East Railway Station(杭州东站) to Jiashan South Railway Station (嘉善南站)first. There are 28 high-speed trains from Hangzhou passing through Jiashan every day. The journey takes around 35 minutes. The first train departs at 07:06 andn the last train departs at 20:20. After get out of the Jiashan South Railway Station, take Bus K222 to get to Xitang Water Town. The bus departs every 40 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every day.
 

By Bus

There are many direct tourist buses leaving from Hangzhou Jiubao Passenger Terminal--杭州九堡客运站 (Located in 3339 Desheng East Road, Jiubao County, Hangzhou) to xitang water town every day. The last bus here is at 6:15 p.m. and the journey takes about one hour and 40 minutes.

Or you can take a bus from the Hangzhou East Bus Station to reach Jiashan County first. The bus here departs every 40 minutes every day and the journey is 1.5 hours. In Jiashan, catch a bus to Xitang Water Town; departures are frequent about every 5 minutes for a 30 minute journey. Or you can take a taxi to get to Xitang from Jiashan and it takes about 20 RMB.
