We started planning our May trip in January 2018. By the time the trip was finalised, more than 70 correspondences had passed between Raylene and me! I changed plans many a time, but Raylene was always accommodating!

A very good, intense, itinerary was eventually agreed upon, and as a result, I think we got a very good first look at China! We saw places we had read about in the rich and vast history of ancient, and more recent, China, and also saw the modern China growing at a phenomenal pace! It was a very exciting, and culturally interesting, holiday. It is hopefully not the last time we will visit China, as there is so much to see in this huge, dynamic country.

The whole trip went very smoothly, thanks to TCT, and although we were unsure what was going to happen at times (at the end of the cruise, eg), the guides were always waiting for us at our new destination, oor contacted us to inform us of happenings! Transfers and travelling to sites went off without a hitch, and most of our drivers were calm and drove well in the traffic. The only exception was our Beijing driver who was very excitable in the traffic.

We have nothing to complain about during the entire trip, only a disappointment, and that is that we did not go through the locks on the Yangtze River Cruise. This was one of the main reasons to do the trip, so when we were told that we were docking upstream of the dam (no explanation given) we were very disappointed. When we asked him, the river guide said the government has banned cruise ships (unless they pay to go through) to prioritize commercial shipping. This is a sad day for Yangtze cruises as a lot of people do the trip to experience the locks.

All of our guides in all the cities were good. In Yichang we were a bit disappointed, as, although we had many hours to wait for the airplane to Shanghai, the guide did not take us to see things in the city. Other people we had met on the boat went to the museum and the market, but we had to sit at the airport for 5 hours.

Compliments to TCT and in particular to Raylene. We got a very professional service from them, and will certainly recommend TCT to anyone who wants to visit China.
