East West Street, located in front of the Zhengyang Gate of the Jingjiang Princes City, is also known as "Zhengyang East Lane" and "Zhengyang West Lane". It is the only historical street of the Ming and Qing dynasties left in Guilin, with a pleasant spatial scale. It is a scenic spot showing the ancient historical features of Guilin, including the traditional streets and lanes of Guilin, such as Zhengyang Street East Lane, Jiangnan Lane, Lanjing Lane.
As an important part of the famous historic and cultural city, East and West Street have witnessed the historical rise and fall of Guilin City for nearly 1400 years since the city was built during the Wude years of the Tang Dynasty. East and West Lanes flourished as early as the Ming and Qing Dynasties. At its heyday, it was also known as the treasure land of "green dragon and white tiger". It is a landmark of the city of "Guilin International Tourist Attractions".
According to historical records, Wangcheng Zhengyang Gate was first called Duanli Gate. There were originally ancestral temple and shrine altar outside the city gate. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the ancestral temple and altar of shrines were destroyed by war. In the Qing Dynasty, Wangcheng was changed to Gongyuan(examination hall), and Duanlimen was renamed Zhenggong Gate. From then on, some dignitaries began to build their own houses on both sides of Zhenggong Gate, and ordinary people followed, building houses next to the wall of the king city. In the "Lingui County Chronicle" in the six years of the Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty (1880), the names "East Lane" and "West Lane" began to appear.
Reopened on June 6, 2016, the reconstructed East and West Lane embodies the style of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, focusing on highlighting cultural values, creating a market culture with commercials, pharmaceuticals, and architecture as the mainstay and maintaining its historical truth Nature, cultural continuity and integrity of the style. It has restored precious historical and ancient buildings, preserved the original style of the ancient lane, comprehensively improved the living environment of the surrounding residents, successfully created a new cultural tourism landmark in Guilin city, and endowed "Guilin international tourist resort" with a richer cultural atmosphere and business environment.
Guilin, a world-famous scenic tourist city and China's first historical and cultural city, enjoys the reputation of "Guilin's mountains and rivers are best under heaven". It is the permanent host of the UN World Tourism Organization / Asia-Pacific Tourism Association International Forum on Tourism Trends and Prospects, and China's first national tourism comprehensive reform zone built on the city.
The project covers a total area of 29,200 square meters, with a total construction area of more than 60,000 square meters. East and West Street is divided into two parts, traditional culture street and fashion style street.
【Traditional Culture Street】
East and West Lanes include traditional Guilin streets such as Zhengyang Street East Lane, Jiangnan Lane, and Lanjing Lane. East West Street is based on the main functions of traditional residence, traditional commerce, cultural experience and leisure tourism. It is also a scenic spot for the ancient historical features of Guilin, which reflects the historical context of Guilin. It features “Neighbourhoods of Ordinary Citizens and Splendid Mansions of Celebrities”, also reflects the development of the era. In addition to the protection and repair of ancient cultural buildings, the traditional cultural street will be built into a multifunctional experiential commercial block that integrates tourism, leisure, food and shopping.

Take bus No. 10, 11, 14, 18, 21, 24, 25, 30, 91, 203, and 206 in the urban area and get off at Jiefangqiao Station. The west side of the station is east-west street, and the east side is the Xiaoyao Tower scenic area.
