How to get to Kanas Lake from Urumqi by air? Kanas Airport is located at the southern edge of the Kanas National Reserve and it is about 50 kilometers from Kanas Lake. This airport is located inside Burqin County, the southern edge of Kanas Lake. During duty tourist season (from June to August), there are 1 to 2 flights from Urumqi to Kanas every day and the flight journey takes about 1hour 25 mimutes. The flight departs from Di Wo Bao Interntaional Airport(URC) to Kanas Airport(KJI).The take off time are: 7:00, 08:25, 09:00, 20:30. One can catch an airport express which will drop you off in the lake area. It takes about one hour to travel from the airport to Kanas National Reserve.
While during the off season, the schedule of direct flights is unreliable. It usually changes. An alterative air way is to take a flight from Urumqi to Altai. The flight departs from Di Wo Bao Interntaional Airport(URC) to Altai Airport(AAT) and it takes 1 hour 20 mins. There are 3-4 flights every day and it takes off at 8:25, 12:55, 18:40, 20:50. Then one may transfer to a bus from Altai to Burqin, which takes another 1.5 hours. Upon your arrival in Burqin, catch a bus to the lake area. This is workable too.
How to get to Kanas Lake from Urumqi by coach? Visitors can take a coach from Urumqi Nianzigou Bus Station(碾子沟客运站) (located in 49 Heilongjiang Road, Urumqi and can be reached by Public Bus No.8, 44, 50, 51, 105, 310) to get to Burqin (布尔津) County first. There are only one coaches departing from Urumqi at this station, which depart at 7:30 pm. The journey takes about 9 hours.Ticket fare is about 180 CNY.
Upon your arrival at Burqin Bus Station (located in No. 32 north kanas road, Burqin County, Altay Prefecture), transfers to bus there to arrive at Jiadenyu, which will takes about 3 hours. The bus from Burqin Bus Station to Jiadenyu only departs at 10:00 am and 16:00 pm every day. So do not miss it. Finally, you can take a shuttle bus in Jiadenyu to reach Kanas Lake area.
How to get to Kanas Lake from Urumqi by private car?
