Best Time for Taking Photos of Mount Everest

The best time for taking photos is also the best time to travel to Mount Everest. It is between April to May and Sep. to Oct. each year. During these two periods, the weather on Mount Everest is relatively stable. The sky is clear that visibility is high than any other period, because there is less rain. You can see Mount Everest clearly and enjoy the scene of Banner Cloud and the golden mountain.
 

If you travel to Mount Everest during July to August, the rain season here, you may always find the Mount Everest surrounded by rain. Or if you travel in winter, the road to Mount Everest maybe not allows driving because of snow.

The View Platform in Old Tingri

Q: How to keep warm when shooting on mount Everest?

A: The temperature of the Everest base camp is very low, and it often reaches minus 10 degrees during the night. As a result, wind protection warm coat, gloves, scarf, hat is indispensable. More important, you must prevent exposed skin from touching the camera and the metal parts of the tripod in a freezing environment, where the skin can be hurt by sticking to the metal.
 

Q: How to protect the battery against the cold?

A: Normally, photographers should take more than two batteries when shooting, and the batteries that do not fit into the camera should be kept warm in the pocket of closest to body. For batteries that are used on camera, it is best to remove them after 10 minutes and replace them with a warm battery in your pocket. The use of batteries in this way can greatly prolong the working time of the battery in a low temperature environment.
 

Q: Is it better to use a manual camera in cold areas than automatic?

A: Manual cameras are extremely difficult to operate in extremely cold environments. The low temperature will cause the people not flexible which makes it more difficult to focus.
