Daocheng Yading Airport

Daocheng Yading Airport is a civil airport in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is located at Haizi Mountain, 50 km away from the north of Daocheng County. On April 7, 2011, the project was approved by the State Council. On March 9, 2012, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the project, a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan. On June 6, 2012 , it officially started construction. On November 23, 2012, the test flight was successful, and it was officially opened to traffic on September 16, 2013.

 

According the Yading Airport Market Department, the first flights opened was flights from Daocheng to Chengdu and Chongqing. It just takes 65 minutes from Chengdu to Daocheng. In the future, it will gradually open flights to Lijiang, Guiyang, Kunming, Xi'an, Mianyang and other destinations.
 

Basic Information of Daocheng Yading Airport

 

 

Daocheng Yading airport has a 4200m (13870 feet) long, 45 meters wide runway. The flight zone’s grade is 4C. The Airport has one terminal building area of ​​5,000 square meters, with the shape like a flying saucer. The passenger terminal is designed for up to 280,000 people a year.

 

With elevation of 4411 m, it is higher than Chamdo Bangda Airport (4334 m), and is the highest civil airport in the world.
