I'm going to China and I want to go to the Great Wall. I wondering what my best options are for getting some good photos and seeing the best part of the wall (from there obviously)...should I go north or south or? Am I best to take off and see how far I can get in almost an hour then wander back or ?

There are several famous sections of great wall. Of those, I think Juyongguan section, and Simatai section is the best for taking pictures. Iwill give you some introductions about several sections of great wall for you to make decision as following.

Built mainly with granite, the wall is 7-8 meters high and the top is 4-5 meters wide. Compared with other sections of Great Wall, Mutianyu Great Wall possesses unique characteristics in its construction.

As conclusion, it won't much make a difference and due to its wonderful maintenance and restoration, as a tourist you will be assured some wonderful pictures are not crowded and full of people nonetheless. And about the visiting time of great wall, you don't need to rush to Great Wall, because the time is several hours. The opening time of Badaling Great Wall is from 06:30-18:00, Juyongguan Great Wall is 08:00-17:00, Simatai Great Wall is 09:00-16:30 and Mutianyu Great Wall is 07:00-18:30.
