In which area/district should I book my hotel at? Does location matter in Beijing?

sophie ( Travel Consultant ) Jul 24 ,2014

Dear Jeremy,

Greetings!
Thanks for your questions.

At first, please kindly be advised location does not matter much in Beijing, such a modern city.
Nowadays, the metro system expand wide in Beijing. It is convenient to take this public transportation travel to the scenic spots within Beijing downtown, except Great Wall.

Therefore, when you book hotels, you could choose the hotels not far from city center. Generally speaking, the location within Three Ring Road of Beijing will be ok. Then it is better to choose a hotel which is near to subway stop. It will be very convenient and economic when you travel around. If you hope to do some shopping after tour, the hotel location should be near to some commercial center, such as Yanshan, Xidan, Wangfujing, ect. When the hotel near to commercial center, it is also easy to find restaurant for meals.

Besides, when you decide which part to stay, it also depends on your interests. If you prefer to try Beijing traditional courtyard hotel or hostel, then most of them are located in Hutong, which are in the city center. But the problem for such kind of hotels is the transportation. As you know, Hutong is a kind of narrow lane. In this case, taxi can not reach most of them. So you will need to get off the taxi at the entrance of the Hutong, then walk along the lane to a such hotel. If you prefer international chain hotel, it is easy to find and book one at very good location, such as Wangfujing Street, which is the most central place in Beijing.

Furthermore, when you decide to find a place to book a hotel, the hotel in Dongcheng (East of the City) District will be better than that in East District, because it is nearer to Beijing Capital Airport.

Hope the above is helpful. More Beijing hotel information, please check /beijing/beijing-hotels.htm
