I would like to trek the Tiger Leaping Gorge in Lijiang this September with my friends. How far is it from Lijiang? How can I arrange the trekking is more suitable?

Well noted that you would like to do a trekking tour in Lijiang. Please kindly be advised as below,

Introduction of Tiger Leaping Gorge:
Tiger Leaping Gorge is one the deepest gorges in China with 16 km long.  It is devided into 3 section as Upper, Middle and Down Tiger Leaping Gorge.  There are totally 18 dangerous shoals. It is located around 60 km from Lijiang downtown. Due to the beautiful view, it attracts a lot of travelers every year.

Transportion:
1. There are bues between Lijiang and Qiaotou town. If your tour budget is limited, you could choose to take morning bus to Qiaotou town, then start your trekking.

2. If you are 3-4 persons, you could also rent a mini-van or car from Lijing to the entrance of Tiger Leaping Gorge to start your trekking.

Trekking Arrangement:
Trekking tour can be arranged as 2 days trip. as below,
1. Arrival at the entrance of Tiger Leaping Gorge in the morning. Start your trekking on upper tiger leaping gorge. It will need around 2 hours from the entrance to Naxi Yage Inn. Have a short rest, continue the trip to Tea Horse Inn for around 3 hours. Then it takes also around 2 hours from Tea Horse Inn to Halfway Guest House. You could have accommodation here.

2. Next morning, it takes around 1.5 hours from Halfway Guest House to Tina's House. Short rest, contine the trekking to Mr. Zhang's Way to the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge. Then up to Hetaiyuan, where you almost finish the trekking tour. You could choose to go to Shangri-la or back to Lijiang for departure.
