Hello, I am interested in visiting Yellow Mountain (West Sea) in December. I am interested in going by train from Shanghai to Huangshang. I would now like to ask you, if it is recommendable to stay in the city of Huangshang for going up the mountain or which city would be best. In addition would I like to ask you, how difficult the west and east part is for someone without long hiking experience.

Dear Moritz,

Thanks for contacting Top China Travel

Staying in the Huangshan city, where is 59.2 kilometers away from Mt.Huangshan Scenic Spot, is too rush and tight. Generally most of tourists prefer to choose to stay one night at Tunxi Old Town and the other night on the summit of the mountain. This is a usual way. But you can also stay in Tangkou Town or the foot of Huangshan Mountain (Yungu Area and Hot Spring Area). More details please see at: Where to Stay in Huangshan.

There are three classic hiking routes, Xin'an River Hiking Route is comparatively easy to go, West Sea Grand Canyon Route is hard, and Mt.Huangshan Front Mountain Route is also hard comparatively. More details please see at: 3 Classic Huangshan Hiking Routes.
