Dear Symington,

Thanks for contacting Top China Travel.

Regarding the difference between hard sleeper and soft sleeper, there are 6 hard sleepers in one cabin while there are 4 soft sleepers in one cabin. Thus, soft sleepers are more spacious in the cabin. In addition, soft sleepers are more enjoyable than hard sleepers, for the size of soft sleepers is bigger and softer than that of hard sleepers. On most Chinese trains, the soft sleeper is 70cm in width and 200cm in length, however hard sleeper is only 60cm in width.

The price of soft sleeper is a little bit higher than that of hard sleepers.

What is more, hard sleeper is divided into upper sleeper, middle sleeper and low sleeper, and soft sleepers are classified to low sleeper and upper sleeper. Usually, the low sleeper is the best, for you do not have to climb for a high height to get to your bed.
