The public give positive feedback to Beijing's medical reform

( Post Time:July 09,2012 )

Beijing's medical reform receives the public's positive feedback in accordance with a survey conducted by Beijing Municipal hospital management bureau.

Almost 90 percent of respondents say that they are satisfied with Beijing Friendship Hospital’s new measures. Most respondents also say they are sensitive to the drug prices, which is exactly what the new measures are focused on.

"I have chronic disease and need to take medicine all the time. I came to the hospital for my medicine every single month. I feel it’s relatively cheaper now."

"It’s more convenient to get an appointment with doctors now. Before I needed to arrive at the hospital as early as six am."

But there still is room to improve. Some long-term issues in China’s medical system remain. The most dissatisfaction comes from negative hospital experiences and the lack of credibility of doctors.

"I just want the hospital to have better doctors, and of course, to be cheaper."

"I think the medical reform should not change things on the surface. It should solely focus on the patients. The reform should be aimed at the core issues of the system."

The Beijing Friendship Hospital says it will carefully monitor the progress of its new measures, along with patients’ feedback.
